Hey folks,
I am trying to get a clear understanding about just what ProRes RAW actually is, and all I'm finding is a lot of "laypersons" explanations of "how great it is, and easy to work with" which doesn't really tell us what's under the hood.
Seeing as how there are already at least half a...
Hey folks,
I recently saw an article/video for a new "all-in-one" sort of steady-rig type device but I cannot remember the name of it.
It's about $3,500
It has a gimbal that you grip - hand placement is like right below the gimbal joint - and a long body that can sort of 'instantly' become a...
What do you do when you have less than 2-minutes of under exposed BMPCC footage from your friend's Halloween party but they really want you to do something with it?
You make some MAYHEM!
That's what you do.

Well, I've finally decided to make the push for either an URSA Mini or a used RED camera, so I'm selling my near MINT condition Samsung NX1. I have used it only half a dozen times or so - mostly for the 120fps Slo-Mo.
(Actually I'll probably be letting go of all my cameras that don't shoot RAW...
Here's a screen capture of the Original h.264 file on the right, and the 1080p Vimeo stream seen through Internet Explorer on the left.
Last year Vimeo was NOT this drastically off. And strangely, the streams of SD 540p and 320p look MUCH more like the original on the right - just in lower...
I can't be the only one seeing this. Black levels not only taking a huge shift, but changing during playback.
I'm getting it in both Chrome and Internet Explorer, and a friend says he's seeing the same thing with Firefox on Mac.
I upload a piece, and at 720p and 1080p it plays back with a...
I am a real stickler for NOTHING ever touching my glass - and as such I have always just carried all my filters around in the hard plastic containers they came in.
But alas, this is really starting to become unworkably inconvenient.
I bought one of those TIFFEN belt pouches, but after the Hoya...
You really need to use a mixer to get that really professional quality and texture.
Sure, you can try to go old-school and hand fold it yourself, but that really is not going to give you the evenness people expect.
I don't know, maybe some old pros are really good at it, but that's a skill that...
I made my own.
I really like it. It gives me more of the control I like on most types of shots. I also find the two-handled approach helps with smooth walking.
The rig I made looks almost exactly like this one...
The "S" series lenses are already unavailable from B&H Photo and Adorama, and Adorama lists ALL their remaining Samsung lenses as "Closeout".
So much for the "lenses being available for a long time"....
How many of the good ones ever even made it out into the public I wonder... Certainly not...
