All Samsung lenses are now discontinued

The "S" series lenses are already unavailable from B&H Photo and Adorama, and Adorama lists ALL their remaining Samsung lenses as "Closeout".

So much for the "lenses being available for a long time"....
How many of the good ones ever even made it out into the public I wonder... Certainly not one of each for every camera sold.
I could see used prices for the "S" series lenses going UP.
Well...that's the end of that.
Bummer.

I have two NX1's and both S lenses. They are all incredible, very sad that samsung is no longer in the game.

I enjoyed the company and I think they didn't give it enough time.

But they also probably see things we don't, and learned it would have taken too much time/effort/resources to compete with others in this sector of business.

The system camera sales are significantly down numerically on the units shipped basis. The ILC are holding fairly steady insofar as the units go but, I suspect, there's a lot of downward pressure on pricing. IMO, Samsung could have gone after the the "high end" fixed lens niche (a la RX100 - RX10), fixed lens camcorder and the EF/PL mounts medium tier of pro cameras (a la URSA Mini 4.6, FS7, Red Raven). That, along with their massive smartphone business, would have helped them amortize R&D and absorb any losses on something like NX1. They obviously decided not to bother with any of that.

I don't know if we will ever know why. It seemed like a huge leap very quickly even though Samsung has the goods to compete right away. Makes me think there are other factors involved. My opinion is that they should have made the mount as open as possible to get people to buy into their bodies. It is just too much to ask for people to chuck everything into the river and start with a new system. (especially with the risk of the company backing out of the market as they did...)

Too bad as they were acting like a market disrupter in the space.

To me, the NX1 remains one of the best camera I've ever owned. Coupled with excellent lenses like the 85mm and 45mm, I had great results with it.

hopefully they now become much more expensive on the used market, but I won't be selling mine anytime soon. Just a fantastic camera to shoot with, it always delivers.
