Re: WOW Look at this kids work!

Hasn't it been 2 weeks already? This kid better pump up his speed or he's going to lose this buzz he's got going....

:-/

Re: WOW Look at this kids work!

..yeah 2 weeks is a long time to tweak somthing under 5 min. thnig better be in 3-d by now. :)

Re: WOW Look at this kids work!

I agree, it's not everyday when you get buzz generated like this. You should never keep your audience waiting too long, they might loose interest. Well, he's 17, he'll learn. God, I wish I was doing something productive as this kid is doing when I was 17.

Re: WOW Look at this kids work!

Boy, how impatient you guys are. You're a product of the microwave generation! I can remember as a kid sending for something in the mail and waiting 6-8 weeks to get it. Now we have overnight delivery. So guys tone it down.

Now, to the kid with the fantastic video: HURRY UP, THE WAIT IS DRIVING ME MAD. (I had to get that out).

Re: WOW Look at this kids work!

Hey Magic.  I dont want to hear about the Pony Express Rider coming to your house!  :D

Re: WOW Look at this kids work!

AAAARRRRGGGHHHH :: pulls hairs out with his hands :: when will I see it???
:: smashes head against the desk ::.. .. .. still waiting...

Re: WOW Look at this kids work!

Re: WOW Look at this kids work!

some tight ****. Is that piano song from a movie?  Don't mean to pour cold water on his stuff.. but I'm really curious to see a full rez version. I bet the image res will fall apart significantly. Look at the aspect ratio he cropped his videos. They must be like only 250 horizontal lines or so.

Re: WOW Look at this kids work!

The song is "Univited" from Alanis Morissette. City of Angels soundtrack.. And yes, lame Meg Ryan movie. :)

Actually, while his image SIZE will be smaller, the visual resolution will be the exact same, when viewed on an NTSC monitor, there would just be more "bars" on the top and bottom of the frame. Assuming he didn't crop it horizontally as well, it would just be adding a mask to a regular, full size, full rez video frame.

Re: WOW Look at this kids work!

No the apparent res will not at all be the same. It looks great right now because it's such a small quicktime file. When you blow it up, only the middle 250 horizontal lines will be used. Not nearly as sharp as it looks now.

Re: WOW Look at this kids work!

Hmmmm...

So like watching a movie trailer on a small quicktime preview will not look as good blown up?

:P

Re: WOW Look at this kids work!

HI! I'm Matt btw, the kid whos site that belongs to. This is my first time posting here but so far I love these boards! Seems like an awesome, supportive community. :D

Re: WOW Look at this kids work!

Matt, you have mad skillz my friend. Tell me, what did you use for your color correction while the singer chick was on the ground in the city. She like fell to the ground, then looked back and up to the camera. I thought that was one of the best looking parts of the thing. Don't get me wrong, the whole thing was nice. 8)

Re: WOW Look at this kids work!

About the resolution issue: letterboxing will not change the resolution. It won't get blown up any bigger than it is. On a television, the resolution of those middle 250 lines will be exactly the same as the resolution of any other DV frame. He's not stretching it out (which would compromise resolution), he's adding black bars on the top and bottom.

Second: Matt, you rock. Your stuff looks phenomenal. I'm already thinking that I want to hire you to add some flash to my demo reel.
