GH4 WOW..Check out this GH4 video. Brilliant!!

These are the tests I want to see. Not fruit in front of a color chart or a girl in front of a bright shop window without proper lighting. All the crap about DR means nothing if the shooter knows what he/she is doing and works with the camera the right way.

Wow what a nasty comment. Personally, I feel that Macgregor would be able to make a very nice film propaganda film with the GH4 if he chose to :)

Just because he is testing to find the camera's limitations and sharing that info with the world means you feel you can just throw insults around, awesome.

You do know he shot this, right? It only won Vimeo narrative short of the year...

Meh, still doesn't beat the hacked GH2 IQ IMO

...Really?

Because I'm seeing dynamic range that I know I could never get with my hacked GH2 or non-hacked GH3 cameras, top that off with the 4K resolution and you're miles away from what a hacked GH2 can produce.

The hacked GH2 is a great camera, but the DR is super tight and the low-light performance leaves a lot to be desired.

Ok...I ll just say my opinion here...and help me god!!!:cry::cry:

Im really trying to understand what there is to like in the youtube videos linked in that thread: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w5vFk_aSShc and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Da7xy5rZ8OU&feature=youtu.be
The first one is soft, full of noise (and not only in the shadows) with some strange flickering and about the second...I just dont know what to say...what is there to like? The detail in the face? Ok...
But this one: https://vimeo.com/93199353#at=0 ....its just breathtaking!!!
However, even in that excellent video I dont see something that would make me to run in the store and grab a GH4...sorry! Ok there are a few incredibly sharp shots (01:00 for example) but that is to be expected from 4K... right?
On the other hand, the shot from 00:48 to 00:59 says something about the DR...I know its a difficult shot (you cant compete the sun) but I would expect something better...
Im not bashing the camera...Im sure it will be an excellent tool in the hands of skilled people for some great footage and the price is sooo good for what it offers! But that doesnt mean that its for everyone, or that everyone should use it.
Personally I like more what I ve seen so far from the A7s...but ofcourse the price will likely be much higher and we havent even seen footage from ''real'' users.
Thats my opinion...and if you feel Im wrong in what I just wrote...please correct me...I like to learn:)
P.S. Im shooting with Canons but Im not a fanboy! I Know they re soft with moire and all that...but I have my reasons to use them. So far I havent found another camera that it would worth the hassle to change my system!

But does it equal that quality? In my opinion, the GH3 didn't. But the GH4 seems like it can, and combined with all the other nice features which the GH2 is missing, we've got one hell of an upgrade.

Am I the only one to realize that most of these shots are time lapse. (Very creative and good looking time lapse). But time lapse doesn't actually tell us anything about the quality of video mode. The shots may have even been made from raw and not even jpeg. It looks like the only slow motion shot is the pigeons, which was ok I suppose.

I guess my point is: Really Cool Video, but it could have been done with a 5d mark 1.

Err - I don't think the movi shots are time lapses. He does state at the front of the video that it's a mixture of 4k and timelapse

JPEG Stills.
But having a MOVI and motorized slider is pretty damn nice. I want one of each too!

John, why are you always belittling people? To answer your rhetorical questions...

1/ 96fps outputs closer to 720 than 1080, and therefore is best used for medium-closeup shots.

2/ Shooters who have tested the camera have found issues with various settings in various situations. It's people like these who allow people like you to get the best out of your camera.

What I don't get is why you feel the need to s*%t on people so relentlessly? Even if you had any talent (I checked your Vimeo page) this would be poor form.

I have no idea what Vimeo page you are talking about first of all. Do you see I link somewhere here? No, right? My stuff is under my company name. And the questions are not rhetorical at all. It reminds me of the days discussing some of the comments at DVXUSER with a friend of mine at Adorama. He would shake his head and ask me, really? The GH4 is going to be a great camera in the right hands as always the case, period. And I never criticize other people's work because that is extremely bad form but 2 videos on Vimeo not a great career make. And yes, I followed the link you provide. Cheers!

Personally I know Macgregor is a great artist! I am not questioning that at all. Can he get all that talent to work and give us a magnificent example of what the GH4 can do in the right hands? Like our friend Philip Bloom so charmingly does time and again? If he is too busy I understand but like I said fruits in front of a color chart and a lady in front of a window are not definitive test to get to any conclusions about the camera.

I really enjoyed this, but agree there is probably some DR push because of time lapse.

I'm taking mine in the woods with a Defy G2 Saturday morning....so should have something cool to show (all video mode, no time lapse). I'll also be shooting a quick short w/ G2 & Movi up in the air with my buddy Tom of FlyBy AP.

I'll post here once I have something.

Ok watching the video again there are actually a lot of 4k movi shots in the front end of the video. The hyperlapse heavy second half skewed my short term memory. But people shouldn't mistake the movi shots or the hyperlapse shots for slow motion, which it seemed like peolpe were.

Joe Simon who made the first video is a very talented and well known wedding films guy. His work is great and with the help from the GH4 makes it even better. I for one love the footage that comes from GH4. Now If i could only get out of work and grab mine which is sitting on my front steps from UPS :)

I have been testing our GH4 that has come in and I have to say in my option its the best DSLR for video out there right now. For those who are saying 96fps isnt good and wouldnt shoot with it, well thats up to you. It is a little softer but when used right most people will not notice it all. On the flip side the 60p is just as sharp as the 24p in the camera and the 4K is just crazy. The DR is also nice. I think there are a ton of choices when it comes to setting up this camera to your liking so it will be some time before we see what works and what doesnt.
