LOLOL, I guess I should probably rethink that paint-drying demo of my new time-lapse patch :[Nothing personal LPowell, but if you want to show moss on the wall, get in there and show the moss. If you want to show the iron gate tops go there and let us know what your on about. If it's the ball on the post, light it so it's the subject rather than leaving everyone's wandering eye all over the screen searching for a subject to latch onto. Mine actually goes to the street sign behind the ball as it's the brightest inteligable piece on the screen.
I'll have to agree with Framerate that all this banter has little to do with a cam that aids in the telling of stories and a lot more to do with techno babble.
Art is the "painting" itself, not the brushes or the canvas you used to make it.
So for some people, the choice of brushes or canvas is most definitely a part of Art.
...But do the "brushes" or the "canvas" matter if all most of us are interested in is the final product, the "painting" itself ?
I was thinking the other day that Christopher Nolan's "Inception" could have been shot on Super 8 film ( which would have made the SFX work absolute hell ), and I think it still would have been a very popular film.
The same goes for shooting "The Blair Witch" with IMAX cameras, which I doubt it would have improved the finished film in any noticeable way.
I've seen magazine covers shot with a $5 Diana camera that were incredibly beautiful.
It seems that in the right hands any tool can create beautiful "art".
I'm a tech guy so I apologize for getting too caught up in the gear![]()

It's all about the technology here. Cinematography is a different subject entirely, and is not attached to specific cameras.
..."but isn't the GH2, especially with the hack, already enough, do we really need a GH3 at all?"
Ideally even weather sealed.
How many GH2s have you lost due to weather so far?
Weather sealing would open up more shooting opportunities.
