Why did this Hyperdeck shuttle thread get CLOSED when the answer was unresolved?

I closed the thread, and provided a link to an existing thread on the same subject.

Diverted to an existing thread in a SONY camera forum from a Panasonic Camera forum on the DVX Site ....and where the answer was not established conclusively.

Interesting.

Interesting.

You had asked in the original thread:

Hard to know if that is new hardware or new firmware.

I have a Hyperdeck Shuttle so it would be cool for me....if it was firmware.

I could not Download (whatever it is) at the moment because it needs a serial # off the deck ( which is at the studio)

Can anyone else advise please.

The thread I pointed you to addressed that specific topic - the question of a new hardware and firmware, and more.

The issue is camera agnostic, and the posts were duplicative. Hence the deletion.

best

Not a big concern.

We just try to limit duplicative posts.

As to the subject matter, I wonder if it is licensing issues that prevent a capture transcode to specific codecs.

Love to see a direct capture to pro res.

Yes, my thought too - if Atomos can get approval/license for Prores for Ninja/Samurai then Black Magic can for the Shuttle?

Would make the Shuttle far more compelling - tho' they need to add auto trigger recording as well imho

Not sure if the question got answered but I just spoke to a UK distributor and he tells me that according to Black Magic it's new hardware, so your old V1 Shuttle cannot be upgraded to take DnxHD. He also tells me tat it does NOT trigger via timecode, which is disappointing. Think I'll keep saving for the Samurai!

Go info.Thanks.

When using this you have to manually press a record button on the device? Seems like a strange way to capture. I sure wouldn't want to work that way.
Maybe this is part of the reason its so affordable.

Record
HyperDeck Shuttle will instantly record
the moment you press its Record
button, even if you’re playing back
a clip. This means you’ll never miss a
good take that’s happening.

I believe that means the record button on the device, rather than the record button on your camera.
Thats what it means. No go for me. I almost bought one. That would be a great deal if it triggered from the camera.

I wouldn't want to double roll two devices. Recording only to an external recorder wouldn't be a safe work flow for me.

The Hyperdeck Shuttle MK2 has basically killed off any resale value I might have had for my MK1 version.

The MK1 can sit on the shelf awaiting the time I might need uncompressed files ( which is what I bought it for).
No issue for me dual rolling devices in those circumstances.

Meantime..my Samurai is the "go to" external recorder in my general workflow.

(BTW - thanx to who- ever fixed the thread title for me... and also ...I think this thread did have "legs" in the AF100 Forum)

A dedicated Shuttle thread is called for.
My interest is not in the AF100 and there must be others who are more interested in the Shuttle.

I pre purchased the PIX 240 in August last year and it did not arrive until December so in the meantime I purchased the Hyperdeck Shuttle.
The PIX 240 is an excellent recorder but cost me over $3000 with caddy and the LCD is quite poor and has limited functions.
The PIX also weighs over a kilo.
I was very pleasantly surprised by the Shuttle.
It gives excellent recordings and is simple to use.
I can live without timecode and audio inputs, using just the embeded SDI audio.
With the release of the Shuttle 2, I can have the same compressed quality of the PIX, recorded to SSD in a lighter form factor.
I am purchasing a TVlogic VFM 056WP to work with the Shuttle 2 on my GY-HM750.
This setup will be little more than 1/2 the price of the PIX and offer both compressed and uncompressed.
Resale on the Shuttle 1 is not so much to write off, and I can keep it for uncompressed and save fiddling with firmware to switch from compressed, just have 2 Shuttles.
PIX 240 for sale.

couldn't find it anywhere online- does the shuttle do timecode at all? does it take the timecode from the hdsdi feed?
