I'm slightly annoyed that the community has given this so much attention especially after the guys at Magic Lantern have busted their asses to give us something that is a legitimate and very helpful tool without asking for anything in return. This is obviously a ploy to get more hits on Dod3032's youtube channel. It's really just a cry for more attention. Like the skinny girl at the party that complains about how fat she looks, I will not give you the attention (youtube hits) that you so long for.

The guys at RED have made some incredible cameras and I guarantee the EPIC was not conceived sitting in their living room, watching football and drinking beers.

Thank you Alex and the rest of the people at Magic Lantern for giving us these firmware upgrades!

Once we all figured out that this was a fake a Mod should have came in and locked the thread. There's no reason for this to continue as this is simply not possibly with these cameras.

This site runs on user-generated content. How did the site support the rumor?

Hindsight is 20/20. Give it 3 days and if it pans out to be a hoax, no one will think about it again.

This has nothing to do with art, passions, dreams, etc. It was a simple concept that was hyped up, will play itself out, and will likely end soon.

And, frankly, I think it's all hilarious :)

Anyone can make up lies like those guys everyday and people will follow,its scary.
 
It's pretty entertaining! I myself would LOVE to see something like this, a real homebrew game changer. Perhaps naive of me but I fail to see why Canon, the people who designed and built the camera with their vast resources would pay bundles to money to someone else for such a feature. Surely they would have the resources to be able to produce similar results themselves?
 
Although, this story is completely BS, there are times when large corporations buy technologies not to necessarily bring it to market but to delay its implementation or to keep it out all together.
 
Well, it turns out you are all wrong. I just got the 4k firmware. This is a video I recorded with the T2i 4k Firmware hack (the video is in Full HD but the footage was 4k):

Now I just have to buy a new T2i... and a new house. :D
 
Did someone else notice 'Earz''s YouTube channel doesn't have the 4k video as featured anymore, and all the comments are removed at his channel? - and that while his last visit date was 6 hours ago?
Update: And now the last video is removed from his channel too...

In addition to the two changes above, he now edited the description of his other video to 'We are still a go for 11:11pm EST tonight. 1/1/11'.

Which to me - makes absolutely no sense. But i'll wait, and we'll see.
 
Wait. Didn't the Mayan civilization predict something about this firmware release in 2012? Wait for it guys. It IS coming...
