Yeah right... we got buffer issues with 1080p and they talk about 4K ? People need more imagination.
And ah of course there is ... NO FOOTAGE TO PROVE THAT THEY DID IT :) Just great.
I would just send him message to Post 4K video of 550D recordin the mirror or stop please.
And this "menu" on camera is probably just a picture uploaded to card and displayed on cam.

I can't blame them for wanting their 15mins. If you were the guy who figured out 4k in a t2i wouldn't you try to parlay that into something potentially larger for yourself by getting your name/face out there as much as possible? There's a reason most large announcements in business or science or whatever are preceded by the obligatory press conference. This Q&A session is their presser.

I would post 4k video to avoid any scepticism thats for sure.I have huge doubts about that like we all.
Its not hard to record 6 seconds of mirror and shut up guys like me.Even if they will post 4k vid i wont believe until i know its T2i recording ,not RED.

The reality is I'd sure as heck use a 4K mode even if it only meant I could record for 6 seconds (not sure if it was meant that these guys are saying there's a 6 second limit, or what), but yeah, most of my types of shots don't last 6 seconds, nor are they usually long shots chopped up into pieces or angles - but long shots do pop occasionally, especially with dialogue scenes, so if they can only do 6 seconds of 4k, they need to introduce 2K too! (which as it's almost the same thing as 1080P, should be able to run almost just as long.)

Really though, if this hack or whatever is real, this will be the one I've been searching for.

P.S. So I just read Bloom's page and 2k can only do a 1:30 - wtf? Oh wait, larger bit size too, by quadruple.

This all came about from a couple of guys sitting on the couch, drinking beers and watching football.

a bit of useful information for everyone: "April Fools" in Spain and most of Latin America is December 28th

maybe this is for real, but still... after Mr. Bloom's joke a few months back, I'd hold my horses: this looks like revenge, sweet revenge

Well, we only have a few more days to wait, so let's stay optimistic.

It could happen. If not by them, then by some enterprising MIT grad or someone.

The fact that he mentions it won't always be free gives one pause that it's legitimate. Seems like there'd be greater legal protection against Canon if you didn't intend to profit from the venture.
