Howto: make two Jpegs with bogus interface and highlight "2k" in one and "4k" in other. Copy them to the card and use camera image preview to "flip" from 2k to 4k (actually flipping between two jpegs).

Record this flipping and upload to interwebs. Wait two days. Laugh.

yeah it feels fake ,hes answering questions like.. whatever, they asking for 60p in 5D and he says "sure it will happen" ,also he talks about 120p and i dont think he has any deeper knowledge even about actual 4K resolution they have.

Well ladies and gents, no sense in taking positions one way or the other right now - only time will tell.

I'm not trying to stir the pot here, but this just sounds ridiculous. Moire and aliasing "fixed" AND 2k, 3k, AND 4k?! This sounds so fantastical that I just can't buy into this. I saw someone a while back here say something like, "There's no way. I will eat a bowl of sh*t if this turns out as promised." At the end, he was wrong (I never found out how that bowl tasted), but I'm willing to state the same here. Sorry guys. I'm not buying it. Although, that's good for you guys, because every time I make a call on something like this, I'm wrong. Every time.

He's called people "retards" and "dumb" already. Sounds to me like someone who has a lot of disdain for, and is making a big joke out of, the wishes of a whole bunch of people. But, we'll see.

Did he say what format these 4K files were going to be in; I missed the beginning of the stream and now I'm back at work. Personally, due to heat and complexity, I think it's bogus too.

Is he saying the resolution will be great? I don't get it why he's talking about 2K and 4K, the ML guys talked about QScale and bitrate increase... but he's talking about... resolution? Like, making the camera capture more lines than it currently does?

I don't get it...

He does sound very sketchy, he recently said something like "6 seconds is enough. check transformers, every shot lasts less than 3" - seriously, WTF? Is this guy even into filmmaking?

This is so full of sh** he tells that latest mlantern releases helped them BUT i spoke with alex and helped him test some stuf and he told me most of the stuff like Shutter speeds and ISO's were iin source code from 2009 year ! Long time ago, so it wasnt anything new in reality, just nobody put this in menu. And WB in kelvins were implemented cause i suggested to use eosmovrec and read what camera is receiving through usb while changing kelvins through computer.
This guy also is rude for people who want technical details and some actual info that is worth something.
Im recording audio from it for a laugh later.
I really would like to be surprised and wrong about this but its 99% fake.

... and he ended it with "all you skeptics out there, 'F' off."

If I had to bet on whether the Scarlet would come out before the 4K firmware hack for the 550D, um... yeah, I'll bet on the Scarlet.

I watched some of the ustream and the way he answered questions seemed very rehearsed, but honestly why bother with pulling off a hoax like this. The video posted of the menus could very well be fake. People were saying it was motion tracked but really all you have to do is photoshop a couple of pictures, put them in the right sequence so that when he clicks right button the little highlighted box goes from 4k to 3k. It could just be a different image (I'm referring to the videos on phillipbloom's page). Hopefully what I'm saying makes sense. However, I gotta say if this is real then it's pretty impressive. I don't know what the 6 seconds of 4k could do for me but the 2k for 90 seconds seems quite usable. As far as the bit rates he talks about, I don't see how our cards could record 175 mbits/s when at qscale -16 which I know is nowhere near that high the buffer fills up. Maybe my class 6 cards are just too slow to make that comparison or it's a different codec (I don't know enough about it). I guess we'll just have to see.

I also caught that he said Megabyte rather than Megabit...when referring to the bitrate. Those are quite different...

I'm guessing the second edition of the scarlet will be out before the t2i hits 4k.

Although if it DOES, nobody tell Marlon. I'm not about to reshoot that entire movie. : )
