What do you drive?

Thanks Jeff, you've said what deep inside I don't want to believe.

I think the HHR is going to win due to it's ability to carry more gear.

The 260hp Cobalt is the SS Turbo version. So fun to drive!! 0-60 in 5.7 seconds... not bad for a car around $20k

wow a turbo for 20k is a nice little deal. but yeah I would just have that damn I wish I could fit more in this tiny fast car feeling all of the time. There is of course the problem of having a car that can hold anything - Hey just call Ryan, he's got that ugly as sin HHR - it'll hold this nasty old refrigerator we found. Having a two door sports car would save me lots of moving of other people's crap. There's definitely two sides to the coin there...

The HHR is not that ugly at all. Especially if you live in California. It is a California car, to say the least. That turbo version of the Cobalt, however, just screams "drive me!" Ryan, you said your car has to be a Chevy, I can't blame you there. I walked out into my driveway about a week ago and realized all three vehicles were made by General Motors. I just have this bias for American cars (and, moreover, GM cars). I don't want to start a debate, just share my thoughts.

I have a '67 Mustang coupe. I prefer the coupes. :)

The coupe's are nice but when I saw that highland green Fastback roar through the streets of San Fran in 'BULLIT' it was love at first sight.

Still doesn't change the fact modern american car design sucks and blows (with a few exceptions of course)

Yeah, my whole family has Chevy's. Dad= Impala, Mom= Trail Blazer, Sister= Cobalt, Me Currently= Impala LS (200hp :) ), Aunt= Trailblazer, Uncle= Tahoe & SSR, etc.

Anyway, the HHR is a california car, which is alright. I like it in black with the chrome package. Otherwise it's a little to girlish with those bright colors.

I'm going to miss my 2001 Impala LS:

Yeah, little cars give you an excuse to never move gear and etc. On the downside, chilling with more then one friend is a hassle. NOBODY likes to sit backseat in those tiny things.

My perfect car would be a four-seater, four-door convertible. Like that car on Entourage. :)

Why can't chevy make a convertible that's NOT a Corvette!? Sheesh. They made and discontinued the SSR, but that was a only a two seater. My family has one, and my aunt has another. They are fun to drive, but REALLY impractical. Plus I can't afford either!

Chevy really needs to re-introduce a sporty convertible version of the Impala SS. Whoa, that would be sick.

Loved it, until I crashed it on the autobahn :cry: Damn Aquaplaning...

Ahem... I'd rather push a Ford than drive a Chevy.

Fords are nice, not going to root against them.

I think Ford's Car line up is worse then Chevy, although they have the Mustang, a great lower price range convertible (what I desperately want from Chevy). I also like the look of the Ford Fusion. I think it ties with the new Chevy Malibu (look strangely similar) Other then that, Ford's car lineup is less appealing, as I still like the Impala over the Taurus.

Oh! But Ford does have a larger selection of Trucks! They have smaller and larger Truck models then available at Chevy.

Any particular reason you're buying a new car? Is it dying, did you crash it?

Unless you get a wicked discount on one, I'm never going to understand car brand loyalists heh. Every decade or so, the tides shift and another company takes over the fast, good lookin', entry-level cars with different tradeoffs.

I personally think the HHR is hideous! The SS Cobalt would win hands down for me. Usually don't care too much about my friends in the back. I mean, they're getting a ride with ME...not having to pay stupid high gas prices. Why should you sacrifice your ride for their comfort? In terms of hauling gear, well I see your point.

Yeah, trust me, I'd take the SS Cobalt, but as a Director of Photography, crew member, and over all human, I need some space to transport things. Someday I'll get that fast car.

And no, the car I have now is not dying, but it's getting old. I'd rather sell it when it still has some retail value, then simply run it into the ground and get nothing back. I'm moving across the country soon and decided I'd rather order the car to be delivered to where I'm moving, versus drive my old car or a new one all the way there. I'd rather spare both the mileage. (according to google maps, from where I am now to LA= 2,427 miles)

As far as my loyalty for Chevy, it's kind of been a family business for about three generations (I chose film making instead, haha), so I tend to like them, despite the ups and downs in car design. Trust me, I'm not blind to past Chevy blunders. But all companies have their good and bad looking models.

2006 PT Cruiser:

Had her a little over a year, and love everything but the gas mileage...

Really?! What was it? The HHR has been compared to the PT many times, but the HHR gets pretty good mileage. I was really surprised to hear that! I would have assumed good gas mileage!

(HHR= 22city-30highway mpg)

Ford's car lineup isn't all that great. I don't care for anything but the Mustang. Although the Ford GT that came out a couple years ago was amazing.

I have 3 Mustangs. One of which (the 67) I posted links to photos of several posts ago. I have the 67, an 87, and an 03. That's the only car I've ever owned actually... Mustangs... :)

They do have a good selection of trucks though, always have...

I drive an 07 Charger.... LOVE that car. Gas mileage sucks, but that car is my baby. Drove a rental car when I went out of town a few weeks ago and thought I was going insane.

That's what a lot of police are using lately for unmarked cars.

With good reason too... you're not gonna lose anybody in that thing. Even the V6 has 250 horses. And they ride and shift smooth as silk too. My friend that has a BMW was riding with me the other day and was blown away by how smooth the ride was. GREAT car.

Oh, the new Camaro beats the new Mustang hands down. Whats funny is, when Ford introduced the horse in the 60's Chevy took a little too long to get the Camaro out there. History seems to be repeating itself now.

General Motors definitely went through a rough patch but they are back up now. That being said, car design in general has gone down hill. Comparing cars from the 40's and 50's and 60's and 70's to those of today, there is nothing like the oldies. They were so unique. Now, most cars are very similar.

I rode in a supercharged Mustang Cobra today. MEAN acceleration. I actually got a head rush. :)

I have a beat-up '92 Saturn SL1. It doesn't have a tape deck, or even a radio for that matter, but I love it. I call it Bernadette.

Chrysler rates the 2008 model at 19 city / 24 highway; I would have to say I'm around that, maybe slightly better. The problem is, that's probably about 5 mpg on both ratings below where my '98 Neon was, and they're pretty much the same damn car other than the body. (And, really, I was a little disappointed in the Neon's mileage to start with, considering that the '89 Camry that my parents handed down to me used to push 40 mpg on the highway, and that was a bigger damn car and almost 10 years older.) There's no reason that Chrysler shouldn't be able to make a Neon that gets 40 and a PT Cruiser that pushes 35.

But damn, I love that car in every other way. :D
