Hey Jim, and the other folks at red - I've been lurking around here for a while, and I'm impressed, and I'm hopeful. And I'm on the verge of putting in a reservation too...
the one thing that's holding me back is I havent seen anything from the camera that really shows it's latitude in uncontrolled situations.
So I don't suppose there's a chance you guys could run outside with the sensor and take a few snaps of the street? They dont have to be pretty - they just have to show dynamic range - I wanna see how it deals with hot highlights. If they don't clip, I'm sold. Hell, I want to see badly exposed images, I want to see how it looks in less than ideal situations.
Basically, I'm considering giving up the cinemascope look of anamorphic lenses for all the other advantages of this camera, but clipping is just one disadvantage too far. I don't care if it's a 20k image if it clips.
I know you have said you are going to be cautious of what images you show from now on, but you'll get at LEAST one more order in by the 31st. And I have a feeling I'm not the only one that feels this way.
Cheers,
