TORN - a film by Rodney Smith

Thanks Marlon. It's good to be back. Now I'm just going to have to schedule my ass off to get this in at exactly the right time...

i used up all my allotted brain cells for the day. now there's just a hamster running on a small wheel.

honestly rodney, was that a real pun you thought of? because it's pretty clever.

Well Brandon and Noel had mentioned Torture Porn and that got me thinking but where it came together was that i was deleting the Torture in Photshop and made a mistake and had the title "Torn" out of that.. so blame Brandon and Noel... and my sloppy typing

well done sir, i like it.

it brings up a discussion, do you think torture porn type movies get a bad rap?
everyone nowadays says "no more torture porn" and people have also said that for this fest.
but there were a few decent movies that started out the genre, until it became flooded with
crappy copy cats.

i thought Hostel 1 and Saw 1 were innovative at the time, in terms of concept. the sequels all sucked IMHO and started the downward trend.

any thoughts on this gene?

personally i hate torture porn. I 'm squeamish when I see real people getting hurt so I can only suspend my disbelief so far for movies like Saw. I just choose not to watch it. My take on it is that the sequels were just for the love of all things bloody and they were having way too much fun. It started to become movies about "lets see how many interesting ways we can make people die".

I'm more interested in the story behind it and the motivations... the lengths people would go to...

Actually I went to try to figure out what font he used, I don't think I have it.

Maybe I should just ask.

Hey Rodney, what font is that? (TORN).

I too enjoyed the first Saw movie but the overuse of gore in the genre turns me off. I think one can make a decent "torture porn" film w/o a ton a gore. (Would that make them "thrillers" then?)

For example, I don't think Hard Candy had a lot of blood; (if I remember correctly) much of the violence in the film was implied.
