It appears the sensor drops sampling resolution past 60 fps. Full resolution 240 is marketing spin, just like Canon saying the 5D3 is a full 1920x1080p HD camera (really 1620x910 at best)![]()
It appears that way based on what exactly? So do you think all 2k raw output from the FS700 will be line-skipped then?
A Sony rep told me the drop in resolution >60fps is not line skipping but rather lower quality debayer/processing. Not sure whether this is true, but its possible I suppose. If that is the case, it's possible 2k RAW from FS700 could look quite good and quite a lot better than its internally debayered recordings for >60fps footage.
If 2k RAW was line skipping and not at least binned or at best scaled from full 4k sensor data, it would likely mean it would result in fairly poor image quality (more noise, more aliasing) and it would be very disappointing. Sony must be smart enough to know this so their 2k RAW is hopefully fairly well designed, and Sony also don't seem to differentiate between 1-60 and 61-240fps 2k raw the way they do with current 1080p options, so there may not be any difference in quality >60fps when talking about RAW output. This leads me to be fairly optimistic about the quality of 240fps 2k raw from the FS700. Seems to me its likely either 2k raw will be disappointing altogether or 2k will be high quality and 240fps raw will be quite impressive compared to current recording options as well.
