The Official "Next Fest" Idea Submission Thread

How about Friend Fest?
The main character thinks he or she has a best friend but that same friend is the one causing all the problems in his or her life.

Just End. The adds more detail to it. And EndFest is not the end of the world fest. You can have so many more like end of marriage, end of whatever you want to end.

But I do hope it's EndFest or something ending related.

Dudes, I think we should have 'silly' fest cuz some of these stories are just so dang depressing. We need to lighten up, some, pullleeease.

I agree with Charli. I would love to see a comedy fest. :cheesy:


I really think that if DVX is thinking about setting up some sort of streaming thing with the fests in the future (heard this mentioned), maybe even something that generates revenue to back into prizes or something...comedy is where it's at. They get the most plays, attract the most attention, are more viral online. You could do a lot more and get away with a lot more with comedy (at the low budget level) than you can with action/horror so it's more of an even playing field and opens the doors to more people participating. Also it would generate a lot of hype I think and draw people from outside. Wouldn't be surprised if the winners even saw something lucrative out of it. If I saw something really funny, I'd definitely follow the work of that filmmaker or that writer, maybe even would work with them in the future. Maybe even get a few volunteer comedians as judges. Could be a really cool spectacle full of romcoms, parodies, etc. If you're going to flood the web with anything, some comedy shorts would be great. Just my thoughts.

Comedy is really hard to write for: You have to be pretty good at it!

I've just had an idea: how about films revolving around games? Whether these games are board games or video games or computer games can be up to the person making the film. Or if the narrative is in the style of a game...

It just sounds a bit different from other fest ideas!

I'd rather see films from filmmaker's own mind. Thinking outside the box is what I like seeing. Based of something just makes you look bad for copying an idea to get your film going.

I don't know of any fest themes to say of other than my idea of control fest.
