C200: The new Canon C200 with 4K

According to the full version of that Output Signal chart, the 8-bit 4K HDMI output is 422 when frame rate is below 50p, so that's something right? That's basically a 4K equivalent of the original C300 codec.

Here's the full chart with footnotes: https://www.usa.canon.com/internet/portal/us/home/explore/cinema-eos-c200-cameras/versatility

Good find! Also, in between the super high codec and the super low which everyone is focusing on is UHD at 150mbps that's 100 Mbps higher that the C300 mki. That's recorded in camera on SD cards.

I tend to trust Brent Ramsey, he stated 10 bit 422 out of the HDMI port. Not only did he say that, it appeared in writing on the video. Many have debated if the C200 had a scratch mic, when B&H and others stated in their specs it didn't, that turned out to be false.

Brent now works at Canon, USA in Melville, New York as a Technical Advisor where he assists in developing product awareness through education and training for professionals using Canon motion picture equipment.

I just Called Canon and talked to a tech guy there. He said he could not give me a definitive answer as to whether the C200 out puts 10 bit 422 because Canon hasn't yet realesed to manuals and tech spec to him yet. He did say the rumor is that it does do 10 bit 422 out of the HDMI port. I then asked him if he was familiar with Brent Ramsey's video and he said he was, then told me if Brent Ramsey stated 10 bit 422 out of HDMI port he would take that as pretty much fact.

Just a heads up for everyone that I've requested the addition of the C200 prefix to be added to Canon Cinema EOS Cameras.

There’s one thing that I haven’t understood : When do you shot RAW you must select a LOG profile? The CRM files (RAW Light files) without C-LOG are fully colorized or they have a flat look?

RAW footage is not video, it is linear output from the sensor that still needs to be debayered and put into a colorspace.

All footage from all cameras start with RAW, the camera can then either process this internally or save this to a RAW file format (some RAW file formats uses a log curve for compression purposes)

The advantage of RAW is that you have maximum flexibility in post, not that it is necessarily of a better quality.

I know the RAW files are untouched by the camera, but what is the advantage to use a C-LOG profile in RAW, considering that the CRM files are already flat? I plan to use Da Vinci not Canon's Cinema RAW Development software.
