C200: The new Canon C200 with 4K

XLR 2 input at the rear of the camera. Interesting. Handle looks to only attach to body at one point, hope it is more solid than the C100 handle.

I bet 10bit externally only, no raw.

I'd be fine with this (no RAW). I do hope it is 10-bit internally, we all need that. 99.8% of users don't need RAW. People think they do but how many are doing high end visual effects/compositing or features destined for theaters with a sub $10k camera? RAW is a PITA workflow and gobbles up tons of storage. If you need it, great but my contention is that hardly anyone shooting with this kind of camera needs it.

Monitor on top of handle with cables...just like that I'm out, ha.

Me too , I am very often use gildecam with c100mk2 ,having lcd in the back is great . With new c200 , probably very hard , any way complicate of using . I hope c200 is new line of eos -c camera and will not replace c100 line . I am waiting for c100mk3 with proper lcd in the back . Canon , please do not change design of c100 line , it is almost perfect .

It looks like Canon decided to remove certain features on the C300 II in order to create a camera that would be the same price point and feature set as the FS7. Maybe the FS5. It certainly doesn't look like a replacement for the C100 mkII.

I would have liked to see the right-hand side of the camera too. The joystick on the left of the camera body is not good. It means moving a hand to operate. No can do while shooting handheld. Also, the SD slots look funny width/height wise. Apart from that, I think the camera looks great.

So what will happen to the C100 line now? Will it go away? And the C300mkI?

+1
Hopefully handheld has joystick as well , there is no picture so hard to say .

I'm sure the handgrip will be the same as on the older cameras. The question is whether Canon will allow you to get into the function menu by pushing down on the joystick. They didn't allow it on the C300 II and the C300 has the same menu and joystick system on the back of the camera as the C200.

Those of us with the Wooden and Zacuto grip relocators hope so!

Seems kind of dumb that in 2017 we still have to have a big, thick external cable for audio and video up to the LCD, doesn't it? Can't they use tiny flat cables that could be tucked into a channel on the body or do it internally? At least it's only a single cable and it looks far more out of the way than the dual cable mess on the C300 MKII. Those ridiculous cables are one of the things I hate most about the C300, they seem like 1970s engineering on a 2017 camera. The shorter run single cable on the C100 doesn't seem to bug me as much.

The only thing I see that would erk me is no lcd screen to see the camera setting information. Looks like you would HAVE to use the viewfinder to see your camera settings if you wanted to make the camera smaller and go low profile (and having the camera up to your eye wouldn't be so low profile). I know I wouldn't always want to have the top handle attatched just to use the monitor, and i rarely use the viewfinder on my c100 mark ii. MAybe there's an lcd info panel on the right side of the camera? Hopefully!

Possible these controls are also on the monitor, which can be repositioned depending on how you have it rigged.

C100 MKII monitor has it. From the picture, the monitor looks pretty thick, wouldn't surprise me but they will hopefully have it on the handle, can't imagine why they wouldn't?
