t2i vs 7D vimeo

not mine but this just got uploaded to vimeo

I downloaded it and took stills for comparison. (727meg download)
From this test it looks like the 7D has better low light but I can't tell if its the same lens
FOV would indicate otherwise but dude says it was same lens
also the t2i 'seems' to have less jello

for all intensive purposes IMO the differences are negligible

Personally judging by the video I would say the 7d looks better, but not $800+ better, heck not even $200 better.

I have seen amazing footage shot with a t1i...............

So In actuality I truly believe it is the person controlling a capable camera that matters

peace

Just want to thank JJ from Orange Wedding Films for making and posting that comparison.

Really like the fact that he showed all the menus. He showed aperture control of EOS lenses at 1/3rd stops which is a big deal when there is only full 1 stop increments on ISO.

The test shots in the snow at the end looked overly sharp. I hope there is a way to turn sharpness down like u can in the 7D

Which shots did you see the difference and what was the difference?

Well to my eye looking at the footage you can tell in almost every scene that the 7d produces less noise and just has an overall better picture, BUT the t2i looks good as well. I would not pay $800 more for a 7D even if it did look better anyways.

Also if you can't tell the difference then don't worry about it, enjoy your camera and live life at peace

thanks so much for posting that! i can't wait till mine arrives tomorrow!! i ordered with the kit lens. i know its not the end all be all lens i'll end up using, but for only $100 it seemed worth it. going to pick up a Canon 50mm 1.8 and maybe the 28-105mm USM as well.

Do me a favour. When it arrives can you post about what picture styles setting it has
you know for turning down sharpness, saturation etc

That's already been covered by a lot of the review sites. Its the same as the 7D and it also takes custom curves generated off-camera just like the 7D so you can load up those latitude maximizers. I think those are cross camera compatible so you don't have to make a new one for the T2i, just use one of the already established 7D styles.

Oh it has? cool, thanks Shao!

Just checked my fed ex tracking, my t2i arrives friday. I look forward to shooting my 7D and t2i side by side.
Do some low light tests myself ! :)

I tell u waht though ... t2i looks small and light ... like the GH1 !

In a prior posting I said that as long as this doesn't have any significant flaws compared to the 7d....it would be hard to overcome the 2 for 1 factor, as far as cost goes. Mine arrives Friday. I'm thrilled. Thanks for posting that!

Is it just me, or does the t2i have "better" jello with a trade off in "shifting blocks"?
I mean, in the jellow shake test, the t2i looked less warped, but the screen was chunked into 3rds with 1 3rd lagging /offset instead of many lines offset.
Maybe there the new chip comes with new software that trys to get rid of jello?

Or maybe its just this computer im watching the clips on.

The test at 14:45

I dont know if its the refresh rate on my monitor, or maybe just not the same panning speed.
To me the 7D bends the little figure way more then the t2i, and the t2i seems to me, to have a solid line seperating the top from the bottom of the figure.

Who knows, but if anyone else sees it, or thinks its the same, chip in.
