So im looking for a decent low light lens for my gh4 for christmas, I have been looking at the rokinon 12mm f2, and the olympus 25mm 1.8.
any other recommendations?

Sale ends today - I'd hurry up: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1073531-REG/slr_magic_slr_2595mft_ii_25mm_t_95_for_mft.html

This is probably the best low light lens for the m4/3 format. Sharper than the Voigtlander wide open.
Agreed. I had the Voightlander and now have the SLR Magic. The Voigtlander is blurrier when wide open than the SLR Magic.

$499 for the SLR Magic 25mm f/0.95 is a STEAL.

If that's too expensive, I'd go with a good copy of the Canon FD 50mm f/1.4 + m4/3 adapter for less than $150 total.

This is a no brainer. GET IT before the day ends! Beautiful lens, low light, manual only, but delivers in spades both for photography and video.......

(I paid full price , but no regrets....)

The 20mm f1.7 pancake lens is super sharp, pretty fast, and very cheap. Plus with the GH4 UHD crop factor it's a ~50mm equivalent. Perfect for portraits, interviews, etc. And since it's a Panasonic lens it's got auto-focus and auto-exposure which helps with run-n-gun photography. If you prefer a manual lens then the SLR Magic looks like a great deal.

Ditto on the 20mm f.17 pancake. Been my goto walk around lens for a while. Though if I was in the market and had the cash, I'd be all over that SLR magic deal.

damn yeah that slr magic 25mm 0.95 is probably going to be what i get. So its super sharp wide open an all that?
how does it compare to the sigma 18-35 with sb? besides how it can zoom ect.

damn , dont think i can id be left with less than $100 in bank ahah.
also it says it wont be in stock till tomorrow so if i would buy it today i would still get same price?

It's not SUPER sharp, but it is sharp and sharper than most anything out there when wide open. That's a lot of light gathering there.

It is a fixed focal length lens. You zoom with your feet.

You can put an order in today and they won't charge you until it ships, but at least you hold the price. And I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for the next sale. It might happen but then again, most probably not for some time, if at all.

Why not look into a speed booster? Then you'd have access to a slew of lenses.
Ive got my sights on the Sigma 18-35 f1.8. Currently im using the speed booster with a ton of my Nikon lenses... all of which are a full stop more of light!

It's not super sharp wide open. No lens shooting at f/0.95 can be described as super sharp. There will be some blurriness and high-contrast highlights will glow when shooting wide open.

However, it is sharper than the Voigtlander at f/0.95, having tested both myself side by side.

If you want sharp, you're better off with something like the Panasonic 20mm f/1.7 or some other modern lens.

I'd look at a Panasonic 15mm f/1.7 or the Olympus 17mm f/1.8. They are an equivalent 37 to 42mm when shooting in 4k and nice and sharp wide open. I have the 17mm Olympus and I think it's one of their finest lenses on a GH4.

Cheers,
Pete

I'm sure it's a nice lens. What would be even better would be $500 for 17mm 0.95. And if someone came out with a fast 14mm (faster than 2.5). There is the 12mm 1.6, but it's not a very good lens, especially wide open. And wide - WIDE - is where it's at, with 4K on m4/3, seriously. Never enough wide *fast* lenses.
