Stow Lake - SF Bay Area

I just taught myself how to roto the last 2 days so hopefully it gets better, cuz it looks like theres still a ways to go. With this type of production, sound will probably play the biggest factor...hint hint. I will try to get Plock by this weekend. The only parts that need work is the special effects, but that shouldn't affect sound for the climax, the end will be worked on more.

Alright, so I received the first rough cut of the film last night and after watching this I'm extremely happy with the way it turned out.

Heres the poster Mr. A. Feel free to print it out and press it onto your white tees.

An hour of makeup, hour of setup, 30 minutes of shooting, 2 days of editing/roto/keying one scene = 5 seconds of barely visible footage. priceless

what fun!

Last round of changes for Mr. Gabe. Who knew recording dialogue in a moving vehicle would sound like ADR! Pete, you heard that right, ADR.

Oh yeah Alan and Pete, let me know when you guys are around. Burger and fries on me! Thanks again for your help sound and effects are excellent.

REVIEW!

Alright just watched this one, and all in all it was fun and enjoyable

What I liked - I have a lot of respect for films made this way, as you can't cut around mistakes, you either have to deal with it or retake the whole scene. You nailed the "home-camcorder" feel of things. You had that classic, teenagers getting in over their head vibe which is always fun. I liked the girl at the end being dead/a zombie/ghost but that was predictable to me, what I REALLY liked was when you showed her hand. Maybe it was just me but I think it was super white, very deadlike and creepy. Sound was nice and clean as well.

What I didn't like as much - The two shots in the beginning of the spider and dead rat seemed a little pointless to me, though they were definitely creepy/disgusting. From my knowledge from following your thread it seemed like you had a really good location, so I was disappointed that it wasn't used very much. I think your lighting when they are on the couch in the room could be a little better, and for the most part the acting was believable but a few parts didn't come across as genuine to me.

All in all it was an enjoyable film, no real glaring issues or anything, so good job!

Gabin i love this genre, and you did well with getting the characters to act natural, but man i wish they got out of the car and got to the lake! Your movie's called Stow Lake and i felt like your poster, and the initial set up, was misleading. They stayed in the car the whole time it, and it needed some scenery. But I did like it and SPOILERS the girl demon at the end was cool and totally worked. Glad you're part of the fest!
