"SERIAL" - by Jason Sanders

Ah that final stretch.. that was me just a few days ago. Look forward to seeing your entry.

VERY NICE take on the genre. I did not see it coming. Everything worked for me. Tom Sniffing a woman's clothes is worth the price of admission alone:cheesy:

Great job.

I hate to say it but I called it in the first second just based on the title. Tom does fit the serial killer look though. Nice series of shots in this one. I particularly loved Tom in the background appearing then running towards her. I was hoping he would and not just disappear back to cheapen it.

This was an entertaining film Jason - Tom Marshall is the Bruce Campbell of dvxuser. Me and Sarah both kinda jumped at the TV - is that Tom?! I think it works effectively and the scary eye contact of our murderess wins the contest for scary ladies featured in the film festival!

Nice work, guys. I liked the shot when Tom showed up as well.
I think I would have lost the news report, the video portion I mean. It just didn't look right.

Good stuff. And the look on her face at the end... Awesome.

Cheers,

Mike

The trouble with this one is that I knew the ending by the beginning. One of the few that had very little dialogue. I'd also throw out the news report, seemed a way for you to add exposition. Very Dexter-like of her.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I agree with MAH and Charli about cutting out the newcast video.

I actually didn't mind hearing some of the info, it was the look of it that I wasn't a fan of. Having some of that play in the background would be fine I think.

Going to watch it again actually. Now that I know the ending it should be very interesting to watch over again.

Liked it! I was pretty sure she would end up being the killer, and her glee was a little reminiscent of "Audition," but that is also what made it so chilling! I thought having no dialogue was refreshing, in that the storytelling is entirely visual. Nice work!

Nice pop-corn sound effect. Why didn't she shut the microwave?

You had a television reveal. Was it really important? Nice placement of your other film. My oldest daughter said the actress didn't look like a killer, but like a person who wants to be a killer. Not sure what that means. :) Nice job!

LOL. I liked the popcorn, was that a homage to scream? I also love she's sat watching really violent films in the daytime. Made me giggle but later it became clear it was a runner for the reversal. nicely done. Im also a fan of films with little dialogue, so props there.

The reveal of the knife in the table was good, and she had great menacing eyes at the end - the sound effects really pushed it home.

good flick

nice film over all. I also guessed the end. the sound effect of the throat being cut didnt work for me. just sounded 2 canned and went on for 2 long for me. the film lokes very natural through the lighting...so good job there.

I liked the film. I agree with others about the newscast. The reason it didn't work for me was because the keying didn't look great and the sky was the background instead something else. Anyway, I thought your sound effects were great and I liked how you did the throat cut at the end. The pacing was a little slow in spots and I think if you cut it a little tighter it would better serve the film. Like when she sees the knife on the table, she seems to sit there way too long before she actually does something and then when she stands in the hallway as well. I like that there was very little dialogue and it worked really well. And there's Tom again! I see ya' Tom! Good job on the film.

Nice Twin Peaks reference, although the news report is a bit much haha.

I liked it and HOORAY for Tom!

It's cool and I liked the lack of dialogue, great use of eyes.

Overall this film had a nice look to it, a definite style. The twist lost me a bit at the end - can't say I saw it coming from the title really. My favorite moment in this film was the close-up on Tom as he gets up the resolve to go do what he came to do. I love little moments like that, where you can see the decision being made. It deepens the story when a character makes decisions and not just reacts to what's going on. And, oh my gosh, how twisted did she get at the end! Yikes! Very nice work here.
