Score!!!!!

Had mine for a little while now. It's an outstanding little beauty :)

Very expensive in the UK (£695 plus another 17.5% VAT - so that's £816!)... but they appear and then sell out very quickly. Over here, we have to get used to paying that extra bit (AF101 is going to be £3995 inc VAT)... so, take some comfort from the fact we pay more when you're waiting for your cheaper lenses and kit to be delivered :crybaby:

Regarding the Voigtlander itself, build quality is excellent - smooth & silky focus and the glass really just 'performs' making even mundane images sing. With the added bonus of very close focusing gives it a bonus macro-esque feel too.

I'd say, if you're going to get one lens in your next spend/upgrade, this is the one - it just happens to be super fast too! Who misses AF/OIS etc when you get this grade of 'special'? It's back to the old days, when a lens was... well - a lens! LOL.
 
I called Photovillage 2 days ago. They told me they had originally received 90 lenses. I asked if there were any left and he took my information and is sending me one via UPS. It seemd that someone had ordered the lens but the deal fell through. I guess I was lucky and called at the right time. i expect it to arrive tomorrow. BTW, I called several other distributors (United Kingdom, Austria, Italy, etc.) and they were sold out of them, there next shipment would be in February. Good luck to all. Keep calling, be persistent.

We are expecting a very small number in next week, and hoping to get a larger shipment in February.

In the end, it turns out no slapping was necessary. Whew.

(although, if you haven't seen it, the Mythbusters "slap some sense into someone" segment is pretty awesome...)

In all seriousness, I just wrote a horror/thriller short which climaxes where the girl being haunted walks down creepy basement stairs after the lights mysteriously go out. Her only light?...

A single candle.
