Top 5 movies of '08 so far!

I've only liked one so far:

1. In Bruges

looking forward to these:

Burn After Reading
Synecdoche, NY
Choke
What Just Happened
Revolutionary Road

I was so surprised to see none had "Juno" in their top 5's but that would ofcourse be because it's only a 2008 film for some countries, like Sweden, we get everything a few months later :(

I'll get back to this.

This is a good thread. But its making me disgustingly aware of how few 2008 movies I've seen. I've been on a movie-I-haven't-seen-yet-but-shoulda-renting spree.

I do plan to see Dark Knight Friday morning when I fly into NC. I gotta kill 4 hours while a friend gets in at 3pm.

BEST:
Wall-E
Iron Man
Cloverfield
The Other Boleyn Girl

WORST:
Jumper
10,000 BC
My Blueberry Nights
Definitely, Maybe
Spiderwick Chronicles
Be Kind, Rewind
Vantage Point
Drillbit Taylor
The Air I Breathe
The Ruins

Meh...
Crystal Skull
Prince Caspian
Rambo

Couldn't pay me enough to see:

Meet Dave
Love Guru
Strange Wilderness
Welcome Home, Roscoe Jenkins
Made of Honor
Baby Mama
Harold and Kumar
Speed Racer
Postal
Sex and the City
You Don't Mess with the Zohan

Really Want to See:
Dark Knight
Hellboy II
Leatherheads
Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day
Flawless
Cassandra's Dream
In Bruge

It's been a pretty crappy year, IMO. Holding out high hopes for DK.

Overrated movie, in my opinion....

Agreed. Not that interesting to me.

I have to admit that I actually LOL'd at the comment about Rerun in the sequel to The Happening (post #1). I forgot I was at work. It was a loud, hearty, LOL.

I can't name my favorites since I have not seen any yet. But I do have a question.....

c.g.eads mentioned Vince Vaughn's Wild West Comedy Show as being a favorite. I have not seen it, but would like to know how the concept differs from Dane Cook's Tourgasm HBO production. I loved Tourgasm and thought Vince Vaughn's film was a rip-off of Dane Cook's deal. But I don't know.

Can anyone compare the two?

The Visitor was good, not great, but good. So far the best movie I've seen in theaters this year is the french film "Tell No One". I'm not a huge foreign film guy (I probably see about 5 a year), but this movie was excellent.

As of August:

BEST 5:
The Dark Knight
Choke
Roman Polanski: Wanted and Desired
The Bank Job
The Broken

THE NEXT 5 (HONORABLE MENTIONS):
Cloverfield
Forgetting Sarah Marshall
In Bruges
Wanted
Captain Abu Raed

THE WORST FEW:
Over Her Dead Body
10,000 B.C.
27 Dresses
Batman: Gotham Knight
Doomsday
Semi-Pro
Vantage Point

MUST SEE TRUE INDIE (other than "schism"!):
Paper Dolls
