Cinemek's g35 adapter shipping june 20th!

probably. Would i be entirely wrong to say that this adapter doesn't stand a chance against current and future designs? Sgblade for one, and even the current sgpro?

The Bokeh will match the current SGPro and the light loss more than likely. The only expense is your Fstop which requires you to use a Mattebox, no big deal.

Beyond F8 lenses exhibit less if any improvement at all, sometimes even hindering image more than helping. So generally anything beyond 5.6 is negligible. F4 isn't a bad place to be at by any means.

It's more than welcomed in the market, especially as a static solution that produces sharp images, etc etc.

Must see a flip unit on one, though. Flipping footage is not fun, for me at least.

The footage on the website didn't really display SGpro bokeh IMHO, more like a cross between the letus and brevis. Hazy, lacking hard to soft edge contrast, but with a nice quality in the highlights.

I believe the demo footage on the site is more than two years old. Similo was at least a year n'a half ago I think.

Looking forward to units hitting the hands of users.

Abandoning thread now.

I personaly think it is bad buisness to shell out funds to any company and not be able to recieve an emqile response. althouh footage on this looks pretty good, customer service is a criticzal saleing point for me, outside of image.

I have also been trying to get in contact with them. I have yet to recieve any sort of response. Bad business practise.

I think telling people in 2006 that the product was going to be shipping within a few weeks when, in reality, it's two years later and there's still no product might actually be the definition of bad business.

This really is ridiculous and I wasn't even part of the big excitement when this product was announced years and years ago. I can't believe that people are still holding their breath on this one. How many times does a company or individual have to mislead their customers before the customer looses faith? I guess a lot, in this case.

I'll believe it when it happens, and not one second earlier.

I actually have contacted them a few times. The head sales woman has been speedy in answering my questions. She said they are taking sales via creditcard and money orders by phone or mail as of the beginning of july. Its actually available as we speak, just talked to her. Unfortunately they do not have the website up for orders yet. They are slacking there. I myself am going to wait to see some footage from users also, as soon as i see some footage on vimeo and youtube or exposure room I'll make a decision. By far though if any of you have seen the gold fish video with the hvx200 on virb.com/cinemek and you know what im talking about you will have to agree it looks more like 35mm film than any other adapter ever presented on the market. But to each his own favorite. You can get shallow dof by telephotoing in with a wide apt. but its not the same as an adapter by all means. good luck, speak up if anyone has it yet!

Hmhmh!

Maybe it is avaliable allready for two years, and they didn't had time to update the web page.. Strange!

:D

well...I was one of the first ones to get myself in line back 2 years ago..I think I was number 23 or something like that. I waited and waited....and at about 3:00 AM EST I furiously signed on to Cinemek's website and tried to get myself into one of the early coveted positions for this adapter.

Was i dissapointed to see them go away...sure! Are you kidding? Why would I not be? This adapter was amazing...just look at the footage that was put out there...and all of it was designed with a non spinning...non vibrating adapter. Jonathan got us excited of the possibilities...Maybe the Beta testers can chime in with their thoughts.

Remember McGregor's videos?...awesome...picture quality?...to salivate over...
I still remember when I saw the "Monterrey" video shot with the g35. Man...Personally I believe this was the pivotal moment in 35mm DOF adapter history. We were all blown away...it was a reality. The Monterrey video was a personal "road" movie shot "matter of fact" style. Was not as polished as McGregor's videos, but it showed that even in a "run and gun" style, the adapter kicked major assphalt...no rails, no need of shoulder support...no nothing...screw it on and run baby!

People who were not involved in the original "excitement" cannot understand why we cling to the G35. We are now spoiled with so many adpaters out there...yet the g35 in my own opinion was the adapter to have or want...it might still be...I believe it will be.

I have since moved to having 3 different adapters...I yet have to be impressed by any of them...they are good, but they also have their fallbacks.

If Cinemek comes out with their g35, you better believe I am buying one...the old adage still hold true...good things come to those who wait...even if it is 5 years...(hey maybe this should be their new slogan!)

Oh and by the way...yesterday night I sent an email to Cinemek and this morning I got an answer by Stephanie...I promptly responded back and in less than 3 minutes she replied with an answer! Now how about that? Cinemek responds faster to my emails than some of the manufacturers of my adapters when I have a problem...

This may be true. But at the point that a company repeatedly makes things up and misleads their customers, I don't understand how you don't start to wonder what is true and what is not. The boy only has to cry wolf a couple times for me to wonder how many times he'll lie and I stop looking outside to see the imaginary wolves at that point. I guess there are some people that will get out of bed and run to the window every single time... for years... even when there's never a wolf out there, but I'm not that kind of person.

That may be the case, but that kind of immediate response certainly isn't the norm for them. There are posts that attests to that.

So what did Stephanie tell you? If they're so quick to respond, you should ask them when this adapter is actually going to be sent out.

If it's really as great as everybody thinks it is, and it really exists already in a form that can create footage that is so far and beyond every other adapter on the market, AND it was able to do this YEARS ago, then why isn't the adapter for sale? At least one thing in that equation doesn't add up.

...but isn't this the fact with most companies making promises (i don't think misleading is the word to use)...Look at companies like Avid...used it since 93...so many promises...some came to fruition some did not...and I can go on and on with so many companies which I use their products at our facilities. Why do we purchase them?...becuase they are tools...they allows us to dream, create, deliver...I believe 10 percent of what manufacturers say...and even when they deliver with the promise...there are always issues. Yet we still buy into them.

According to Stephanie's email "We expect to be shipping this month.
The best thing would be for you to be on the mailing list, that way we can keep you updated."

If it only were that easy...business is not cheap...takes funds and research to create something. I remember that Cinemek was trying to associate themselves with others to help out.
I am a little fuzzy on this...but I thought Jonathan (Cinemek) and Dan Diaconu (MPic) were working on something together. All I say is that it takes time and money...it took me like 3 years to get my compnay of the ground...it take other a bit more time

quote from Mark Fournier says it all:
"If it takes force to impose your ideas on your fellow man, there is something wrong with your ideas. If you are willing to use force to impose your ideas on your fellow man, there is something wrong with you."
Boy who cryed wolf could be the wolf itself nowaday.I will comment on the issue latter this afternoon.

Okay, now we have a full-fledged mystery on our hands! This adapter saga is even more entertaining than I thought :D
