safest flight case for a C300???

I'm about to some air travel with my C300, and I need a safe hard case that will also allow me to carry several lenses, and accessories. I'm thinking of Pelican. But I'd rather get one with dividers than foam that I have to pluck out.

Can anyone suggest a particular model for the Canon C300? What have you found to be the ideal case?

I would be taking the following lenses: Canon 17-55mm, 35mm, 24mm, 100mm macro, and Zeiss 50mm. And an XLR mic.

And does anyone know if Pelican makes a case small enough to fit in the overhead compartment? Having seen the way ground crews toss luggage around, I'd hate to think of my C300 being thrown into the plane, and then arriving at my destination with a malfunctioning camera.

Thank you in advance.

Pelican 1510 = the ultimate carry on. Get it with the velcro dividers (not foam) and get the lid bags. It's really the best there is.

That Pelican is sized for domestic USA travel, & may cause problems abroad. It's also worth noting that besides size restrictions, there are also weight. And Pelicans are heavy. Worse yet they look heavy, so more likely to get weighed.

If your traveling at least business class, or have priority boarding, I suggest ThinkTank Photo's Airport International. We've traveled extensively with these, but note they are not sturdy enough to be checked as baggage.

I've never once had any problems at all (domestic or international) with my 1510. It's indestructible and guaranteed for life. I have had to check it at the gate on regional jets and it's reassuring to know that my gear is virtually beyond damage...especially after I lost a laptop to rough handling of a cloth carry on before I got my 1510. TSA wants to look inside about 20% of the time or so but they haven't damaged anything yet.

I used pelican cases for a long time and just kept getting hassled for trying to carry on my camera case even though it fit perfectly well in the overhead. I gave up on pelican and got a think tank bag for my c 300 and have not been hassled with carry on since.

I own both the 1510 and the thinktank international... both are great... but when I fly I use the thinktank bag, it's like Bern said, more like a business bag and less like a tactical nuke carrying case. I have traveled internationally with my 1510 but it got weighed and I got the evil eye from various TSA and airport security members... maybe I should take the bouncing souls sticker off it. The think tank bag is really an awesome way to travel with nice gear, it's expensive but you only need to buy it once and your things are safe, dry, and ready to shoot whenever and wherever you are. 1510 is fantastic for domestic/local travel.

My other issue with pelican cases are the latches. if you do check a pelican its rare that they come through to baggage claim with all their latches still closed. I dont know if its the tsa guys that dont close the latches or if they are just plain susceptible to opening when snagged in baggage handling. Storm cases have better latches than pelican or so it seems to me.

Does Pelican Storm make a 1510? I have a Storm iM2950 that I check with my tripod, stands, green screen, rails, etc. in it and it's true that the push button latches have never come loose. I get two TSA cards in it on every round trip flight I make. ;-)

A trick I use to have some TSA compliance with my bags/cases etc.... I include a list of the contents of the bag/case inside on top with a few extra zip ties. I also will ziptie the case closed before sending it down the airport security chute. I usually include a scan of my license with a kind note asking to please attach the zip ties... It's never failed me yet.

Get the think tank international. Even in domestic flights you might run into issues storing that pelican and the weight issues might give you headaches.

Think Tank is excellent I use mine all the time flying. Also the LowePro DryZone 200 for smaller planes. I have two Storm cases which are better then Pelican, lighter, better latches, and just as tough. But I hate to fly with these since they are so limited in storage options on the planes.

SKB makes a 1510-szied case with dividers, wheels and pull-handle - mine was about 20% less than the pelican, really sturdy case though.

Great size as far as carry-on rules go... but always seems so small to me... the similarly sized Tenba looks more like a suitcase and seems a bit roomier. really tough, too.

The ThinkTank has locks on their zippers, & another attached to a cable to secure the bag from walking away. Nothing that can't be defeated, but it would take tools.

I've used these in hotel rooms, cars, & dodgy locations, though sometimes finding anything in the room to lock it to can be an issue.

One area ThinkTank really leads is their wheels. They're much better than anything I've used previously, & very rugged.

Filmtools ATA Case

We've got 2 options at this time...out Pelican 1510 C300 custom foamed carry-on case for the camera:
http://www.filmtools.com/pelican-c300-carry-on-case.html
and we'll also have soon a 1510 for 6 lenses with the double cut (larger cut for CP2s and/or Canon CPs) and an inner cut for EFs...like our custom hard case.
...and our C300 hard case:

Jim, I called today and was told there is no locking option and no way to add a lock to the Filmtools C300 case, can that possibly be true???

The HPRC 2500 will just about take your proposed kit list. http://www.plaber.com/pdf/HPRC_2500.pdf aircraft safe, but the best thing is the cordura external backpack for it. which means you can put it in a cordura backpack and carry on your back. I think careful arrangement of all your kit and it should all fit.
