Sorry, I was going to PM you as I didn't want the thread to get off topic, but here goes.

Shot in 24P Cinema mode, made some exposure adjustments while filming. Edited the 60i (wrap) and didn't remove the pulldown for 24P. Ran out of time and didn't really feel the need this time around.

Edited in Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5
CC's in PPro 1.5
Used color curves mostly. I plan on going back and altering the look a little further.

Cheers,

Mike

thought that it was gonna be goofy, which it was...but thought it was the Look i'm trying to be goofy...(make sense?) but it didn't turned out to be great goofy! almost Mr. Bean-ish (aka Johnny English)

ps this is my dumb american comment for the year...but the street signs look funny...

Wow! That's quite the compliment. That's actually what I was kind of going for.

As for the street signs, I shot in Canada, eh! ;)

Thanks for the comments!

Keep them coming.

Great entry! Very entertaining.

For the most part, I thought this was fine filmmaking. I felt that the sequence in front of the monitor (with the woman giving instruction) could have had tighter editing and would love to see more reaction shots throughout.

The film is very nicely shot! I think that your eye and camera skills are dead-on! I absolutely love the shot of the Ace of Spades in the grass. Best shot in the film but there are many others in that catagory. Great framing throughout the film.

Comedy was nice and light and came in at perfect timing. I love the opening title sequence! Very clever.

I thought that all of your performers delivered! Nice job.

Overall, a very well-made film! I think you did great and should be very proud of your work!

Great job!

I'm not sure what it is, but I've always loved Canada...never been...many rock bands came from there...Pamela Anderson :-Love(DBG):....and and the phrase about 'boots' (*whats it aboot?*)....

When I heard the list of agent's names, I just died, that was so funny. Then
when I saw the two agents sitting so close together, omg, that was so funny.
This was a quirky, fun short film. Good job.

Charli, thanks for that. We had a lot of fun making this and I didn't want to do something that came off as over the top.

I'm glad that some people are getting the subtleties in the humour. Much appreciated!

Keep the comments coming.

Cheers,

Thanks for that! Leo did a great job with the music considering how little time he actually had. I'm hoping he'll finish the score for the revised version.

Thanks again,

Mike

Nice work guys. I like the way you shot it. I may have missed this, but did you use one of the 35mm with your HV20? Or is that the stock lens.

Also - what did you use for follow focus work?

I really felt the score added to it. It was absolutely perfect for the material. I really loved the look of the film, especially on the outside shots. I like the opening scene, in the church, goofy funny.

I only used the TV mode for one shot. 1/500
It preformed great indoors and out. We used 3 lights (at times) indoors. 1x 500w 2x 250w

Please PM me for anything further.

Everything you see is stock footage, no filters either.

Leo, did a great job! I'll have to make sure to give him some more time and a finished project to work with in the future. I'm amazed at what he was able to pull off.

As for the shots, thanks for that! The dolly shot in the church was shot using my homemade dolly. The outside shots are my favourite!

Thanks for stopping by with your thoughts!
I really enjoyed your film and posted my comments in your thread early on.

Cheers,

Mike

I really liked this one. It was clever and you had some great shots. One that stands out in my mind is the ace of spades in the grass. Also Robin looks like Clark Kent. I really liked the bit with the gadget agent projected on the screen. How did you do that? The reflections on the table were awesome!

Awesome work.

Kyser, I think your film sucked. (Just kidding. see your last post on Norms thread). I do agree with what you're saying about people being overly kind. I think that some people go overboard with how they give their criticism, so because of the community feel, others seem to pull back a bit.

Actually, I really look forward to seeing what you've done, but it keeps binding up for me on playback and the audio keeps cutting out. I don't know what's going on, but I'm going to keep trying.

I wonder if it has anything to do with how HDV is compressed?

Anyway, I'll keep trying because the bits that I've seen look really good (and I mean that) and I want to see how the HV20 came out.

Best,

Jason

PS-The opening plays for me, so how in the world without an adapter did you pull of that selective/rack focus in the church scene? Such a tiny little focus wheel. :)

Ok, I re-downloaded and now it's playing back fine.

I really liked to concept and most of the style used to shoot with, but since you're a fan of real criticism...I'll give you my opinions.

1. Acting was pretty off. It effected the pacing a bit too much. I kept wanting a few frames shaved off some of the shots, but the pacing of dialogue wouldn't allow it.
2. Locations were nice and added production value.
3. The sound was really uneven and again messed with the pacing for me.
4. I didn't get the ending, but I think it was a sound level issue and a visual disconnect. I think that he accidentally completed his mission by shooting the person off-screen????
5. Most of the shots were really well done. One, I didn't like...The low-angle shot on Robyn in the briefing room gave the feeling of him having some kind of strength, when it should have shown him as inept (now, I'm nitpicking)
6. Main actor was goofy in the right way. The first actor on the piece was the strongest, but most felt like they were delivering lines rather than becoming their characters.

All in all, I guess that's it. I still think it was fun and well done, but with some pacing changes and a few more insert shots you could have really kicked this one up a couple of notches.

Best,

Jason
