redrock red carpet

You make it sound like it was a big secret Tommy. I saw you walk by the Red Carpet on three separate occasions. Besides, even if you got there before it was set up (which I don't think was the case) you HAD to walk right by it when you left and Brian from REDROCK was taking photos right up until 10:00 when Cinespace asked everybody to move out.

Perhaps this will refresh your memory:

I remember seeing the screen on the way in. I didn't walk by it three times. I waited outside until some other people (including yourself) got there and we all went inside. There wasn't anyone taking photos there when I got there. I assumed it was some sort of banner. I saw some people standing around and at the bar and tried to figure out who they were and then went into the screening room. I had never been there so I was trying to figure out what was going on and where we were all headed (at that point it was follow the leader) and we wound up in the screening room. I talked with a few people and then had to sit down because of the back pain. I got up a couple of times to get drinks and some food and then hung out with some people that I knew from here, but that was about it.

I was one of the last people to leave the room and by that point, I guess the Red Rock guys stopped taking photos.

I'm sorry I missed it, because it looks like red carpet thing was a lot of fun. I never said it was a big secret or anything like that. I wasn't "incognito" or trying to avoid people either...

I still don't know what to make of this...

And no pictures??? WTF? Dude, you gotta start being a little bit more self-promoting. You've got a great look and you definitely should be showing up in these pictures. It's hard for me to imagine you as self-conscious or intimidated but, jeez...... For there to be 9 Jack Stanley photos and NO TommyInLA photos kind of says something, man .....
What, exactly, does that say?

What, exactly, does that say?

It was a joke, Tommy. ... Jack got his mug in a bunch of photos and I was just kidding you because you've never been bashful or shy to my knowledge and I was surprised you weren't in any of the photos. It this hit some sort of nerve or offended you then I apologize.

We put in a lot of effort and expense to host DVXUSERs and make this event something everybody could be proud of. Based on some of the comments I'm hearing I'm getting the sense that there may be some misgivings over how the event was organized and run. If that's the case I would strongly urge those of you who feel that way to step up and take over hosting the next event.

No worries.

I think the event went over well, really. It was a first time thing and there's always a few issues that could be ironed out. That's not bashing anyone, I think it's just the way things work. Next years even will be stronger for it.

I enjoyed the event. And I avoided the red carpet since the event had nothing to do with me. Also because the Fat Monster logo scares me. I'm easily frightened.

And it was only days later that I learned there was a "VIP" room full of studio executives and movie stars.

WTF? i hope you're joking. A big reason I flew down was to network with such people (plus have fun with DVXusers obviously, but I could only justify the unplanned expenses as a business thing), I met NO ONE who wasnt a DVXUser at that party.

You got to freak out Sarah Silverman. Is that not enough?

He got his freak on with Sarah Silverman? Wha??????

I gotta say, I was super happy to get to meet the Super Luis and Sam Balcomb among many others, like Zak Forsman and Jamie.

Note to self: turn "grumpiness" level up a couple notches.

We'll start over from the beginning next time.

True Story: I did freak out Sarah Silverman a few hours after the screening.

Probably True Story: My freaking-her-out caused the Sarah-Jimmy Kimmel breakup.

Tommy freaked out Jonah Hill (Superbad) at Teddy's the following Saturday. I dont think Jonah is leaving his GF for Tommy, though.

Jonah was rockin a posse of the most AVERAGE girls you've ever seen. I'd hate to see the girl's he'd get without Superbad.

(Now that Tommy has something besides "Buell" t-shirts I can take him to the clubs.)

Wow. Are you really that shallow?

The respect for women around here is saddening.:(

I am so shallow as to notice how "average" a girl is. Dont be so self-righteous as to pretend you dont.

Dude! I hope YOU'RE joking. I think the idea from the beginning has been the same. ANY event you attend for networking is yours to take advantage of. I met a lot of people that night before and after the event. People aren't going to walk around with a sign around their neck that says "Producer," "Stunt Coordinator," "Talk Show Host." You have to be personable and take an interest in other people. There were famous actors/actresses, producers, stunt men, firearms/props people, television hosts, agents, directors etc. etc.

Some of these successful people were dvxusers or invited by them. For instance, I finally got to meet Sam Balcomb who is a resident user here. I was stoked on that since I've really appreciated his work for a long time. But I also met Bobby Miranda who is a great actor and knew nothing about DVXuser.

The idea from the beginning was to get work from DVXusers up on a screen in Hollywood and to get reputable industry folks there to see it. That is exactly what happened.

I met the stunt man and firearms guy(the one I met was the same person) and I did drop him a note. He was a cool dude.
