RED Reservations...

Ha ha yeah.. if you guys are on the fence about getting in a reservation.. i would do it before next Friday. Once everyone sees what i saw..I have a feeling the numbers are gonna go through the roof.

I sent my reservation form in last Tuesday for exactly that reason.

I got an email back saying that they had placed me in line but could not process the credit card yet because they are upgrading their reservation system.

Could it be in anticipation of a potential flood?

Jim, one thing I never asked, once the camera gets into production, MUST we buy them within a certain time frame, or will we be expected to purchase the number on the reservation list? For example, the guy with number 10 better have his money ready cause when you hit ten he HAS to purchase it.

Let me know

A guy puts his name on a waiting list, and plunks down a deposit for a luxury automobile. When his car is shipped and the dealership calls him, what happens ? He gets 8 business days (approx.) to pony up the cash, or he goes to the back of the que, and the car goes to the next in line.

I think it should be the same for RED. People should have a pretty damn good game plan to pay for the camera, IMHO. The production of the cam is a good
6-8 months away (depending on your #) or more. It should be more than enough time to have the bundle of lettuce for this prize pony.

But, like the other guys have said - if you are pretty sure you can afford RED and want in on the ground floor, then you lose nothing by putting in a reservation now.

If they deliver to specs, then demand will be too high for them to put a camera on the shelf until you earn the $ to buy it. Just like the dealership won't let the car sit in the lot. Of course, this is just my speculation. RED team could have a different ballgame. Just my 3 pence.

RED # wish I was higher

All I can say is that I'll be driving my car for a good while longer. But you know what? I'll take a RED over a simliarly priced new car ANY DAY.

yeah.. it would be silly to skip a place in line. When Red comes out its gonna be hotter than hell and the few hundred people that get them in their hands are gonna be making cash shooting or renting it out.

Remember.. your competing against film with RED..

I fully agree with you Jarred. And all the buzz around -- even that coming from the film world, it proves something indeed.

i'm following tonacidigital RED 102 .. keep the current auto and pony up the lettuce on RED 103 ... the titanium R looks good on the wall in dining room !

I just got confirmation last week that I'm going to be the DP on three promising projects next year....so I have finally send my reservation this friday :-)
The form was actually filled out and all, with the 28'th of april as the date :-) so I had to fill out a new one.

I guess i'll be in the 400's, so I might be shooting those projects on a rental camera after all....

Looking forward for my titanium keepsake to arrive. I am in the 300's, and just to double confirm, the keepsake is only used for refund purpose, and the form that they sent with the serial number is the one that we need for a camera confirmation right?

yeah the titanium R has your serial number on it.. and you need it to turn on the camera.

ha ha just joking about the last part.

I love that little "R" so much I'm thinking about taking it to Jacob the Jeweler and having it "iced" out so that I can wear it around my neck. :)

Come to think of it, I think a REDified Oakley watch is in order. Whatta ya think Jim? :)
