RED Reservations...

Everyone needs to know the the titanium "R"s will only come if you have a reservation up to 1000. After that, you get a nice receipt.

For those who want to see what it looks like, I posted this a while ago in the Australian network thread (but non-Aussies probably didn't look in there):

It's a nice little memento with "RED ONE" and your serial number engraved in the bottom.

Man thats sad. I really wanted on but wont be able to make a reservation till after IBC and after then you will be way over a 1000 but that is a good thing

I won't get paid for another month or two on a project that will almost cover the cost of the base camera. The titanium "R" would have been a nice harbinger for how this camera will impact my images, my work. Seems silly, but it works. After september 8th, you will certainly run out quickly.

p.s. Jim, I cannot wait to see any and all the footage that you may acquire at the drag strip!!!!

Very nice a numbered limited edition keepsake made of titanium. Limit 1,000. May even be worth something down the road. Gotta love it!

A man who follows his passion to the nth degree and creates new means of acquisition because he looked at all his sweet gear and thought -- This is not enough, if we could only marry this... to that. I am all aboard your train of thought. I love shooting at drag strips, but always hated the limitations of interlaced images and lack of lens choice for aesthetic reasons. Burnouts without variable frame rates are a drag!!!!

So approximately what number are we now? Can I still get a titanium thingy if I make a reservation within the next couple of days?

I'm just guessing here, but I think your safe the next couple of days. I don't think they broke 500 yet. I could be wrong.

You know,

I kind of wish there was a "Club Red"... The keepsakes are nice, but I woud be happier if we were brough "in" a little more. Say, invited to attend a 4k screening in L.A. or perhaps the midwest so it's a little more central for everyone in the US.

The other side of this coin is that these guys are BUSY.. As in "we don't have enough time to breath" busy. If they had the time to do little things for us, they would most likely miss their deadline. I would prefer they get the camera out above all. So my idea may not be so hot.

Jim, one thing I never asked, once the camera gets into production, MUST we buy them within a certain time frame, or will we be expected to purchase the number on the reservation list? For example, the guy with number 10 better have his money ready cause when you hit ten he HAS to purchase it.

Let me know

Jay: the team has indicated several shows will take place somewhere after
IBC in various locations through the US. Just not known yet where and when...

Longer than you might expect, but not long enough that you'd be tempted to personally ask Jim, "Where the **** is my R?"

Funny cars at 4K and 120fps that would be the Sh**

Oh yeah! I was at the Mid-South Nationals a couple weeks ago wishing I had my RED camera already.

Roughly how long does it take for the titanium keepsake to arrive? It's been a while and mine has not arrive yet...
Mine took two weeks between putting in my reservation form and receiving the "R" via airmail (and I live in Australia).

I imagine the team is all rather busy right now so it may take a touch longer until the IBC flurry has died down (though you'll have your serial number allocated already of course).

You are part of "Club RED" right here on this board. Jim has given us more info then anyone else on the web or in the industry. When Jim his self comes one here to post updates answer questions, or just shoot the Sh**, I don't think we could be more in Club RED. He has shared their sucesses with us. The first public look at the footage with us, And their small set backs (Damn you Sony) So as far as I'm concern he is going out of his way to make us part of Club RED. And I think that the Camera and company are going to benefit it for along time. So thank you Jim and the RED team for letting us be in the cool kids club. And as for screenings that will come. :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)
