Philip Bloom's first test

I really look forward to your post Phillip. I wish people would stop jumping out of windows every time someone post a bit of footage. Based on Panasonic's history with video cameras I'm sure the final version will be amazing especially at this current price point.

It occurs to me that Mr. Bloom's impressions of this camera(albeit not in final release form) will play a huge role in the worldwide sales and success or failure of the AF100/101. No pressure!

Well I'm damned impressed. Yeah, I'm more likely to since I've still been filming on the first revision HVX, but still.

Not impressed by the dynamic range this test shows, hopefully it will be significantly improved by release. But it looks like about the same DR as most under 10K long GOP cameras can do, albeit with very good sensitivity.

We could also think of this test as a Panasonic send up of the Red MX demo footage of Leonardo Di Caprio lighting a cigar with a match.
Nice visual reference.

Send up is the right term. This footage doesn't come anywhere close to the MX-clip for DR.

On thursday I will test as much as I can. Moire, rolling shutter, aliasing, resolution, sound. I will also record on my nanoflash for comparison. A lot to do in a very short space of time.

I adore my Canon DSLRs. This camera is exciting and way better in low light than I expected as it's based on the GH1 chip

Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful. Keep up the good work.

Phillip,

Thanks for doing this, I look forward to more tests with some of that other kickass glass that I know you have.

Cheers,
