Should'nt Panasonic offer some kind of prize to whoever got closest in this thread?...would'nt that be good marketing also?

"Maybe we should all pitch in and get the info from Mitch, if all the community pays one dollar to Mitch he'll become rich! "
A Mitchstarter campaign?

Better bet would be to stake out his favorite deli and intercept/hold hostage the pastrami sandwich. Hold it up near your mouth..saying "Don't make me do this!"

I'm just gonna put what I always ask for:

Genlock or some way of synchronizing frames, please guys!

What Sony is doing with USB for synchronizing cam settings and frames for their UMC S3CA seems pretty awesome.

FWIW, these teasers do work to some extent, as the major car companies prove. Today, Hyundai came out with a grill photo of their new crossover. And the rumor mill picked it up.

Of course, car companies also have to face the quite popular "car rumor" sites that will eagerly publish photos of any upcoming vehicle still dressed in full camouflage. That, I think, proves my point that these rumors and teasers aren't limited to the photo/video/smartphone world. It's been beneficial for both the manufacturers and the internet 'journalists".

And the potential customer base too.

NAB was freaking boring, I am glad that we have a new camera to obsess about. Gotta be something to keep us coming back here.

Chris Hurd from Dvinfo reported : "That's one of at least two, probably three new cameras that will be announced at CineGear in June" and "Well... it's hard for me to say for sure. At least one, from Panasonic at least, with certainty. Cryptic enough for ya?". Xmas Cinegear! :-D

It may be frustrating, but it's still effective and very cheap marketing...I'm glad it's a M4/3 mount on a S35 variable sensor though!!...and that the mount is locking!

I'm hearing EF mount... And quite probable that it's a swappable EF mount. Remember, that picture is a dummy/mock-up.

Remember, for every declarative statement you read here that isn't from me, when someone writes "It won't be," or "It will have," be sure to add an "In my opinion," to the head of it.

When Sean Connery returned to his James Bond role in Never Say Naver Again there was a great exchange with Q that went something like this:

Q
"It's good to see you again Mr. Bond. Things have been awfully dull around here. I hope we're gonna have some gratuitous sex and violence."

Bond
"I certainly hope so too."

Are you not entertained?

S35 is significantly larger than M43, so definitely it costs more to manufacture.

AKAIK Panasonic manufacturers the Varicam's sensor, but buys the GH5's, supposedly from Sony, so cost may not be that big a factor, especially if the Mystery Camera uses leftovers that were not quite up to the Varicam's standards.

I believe you mean "In your opinion, S35 is significantly larger than M43, so definitely it costs more to manufacture."

Mitch's instructions, not mine

Let me correct that correction: "S35 is significantly larger than M43*, so in my opinion it definitely costs more to manufacture."

*s35 is over 2 1/2 times the surface area of m4/3, so I'd consider that a fact.

We don't know where the sensors are being sourced from(in-house, external...), so cost difference of one vs the other is speculation and opinion at this point. ; )
