FS5: Paid RAW Upgrade in June 500€ / 600$

And I use a 7Q battery solution that costs $100 and lasts all day.

I have two 7Q's and just outfitted one of them with a gold mount system which set me back about $1,200......please share what your $100 battery solution is so I don't have to do that for the other one! THANKS!!!!

I've been using these for the past two years:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/261232724267 (They accepted a best offer for 2 for $36 each)

They run the 7Q for about 4hrs each and screw right onto the back or side 1/4-20 hole. You do need to make a custom CD lemo to 5.5mmx2.1mm dc plug cable to make it work though. Frankly I'm not that happy with how secure the mounting is but it's hard to argue with the price and weight and convenience and I'm trying to stick with it and get by until I need to justify a more pro system. Problem is I use the 7Q in a lot of different configurations and my cameras don't really call for v-mount/gold systems so it'd be hard to justify it for just that one device especially when such a solution would be so much heavier. It's pretty convenient that the these power my fs700 for almost exactly the same amount of time as a large sony battery so my rig runs without battery changes for about 3hrs and I can usually get through a day without any charging and just one battery change all while keeping the rig relatively manageable.

I just recorded a bit of 4k RAW to the Convergent O7+ in CDNG mode. These are some of the best files I've seen from a digital camera, and I work with a lot of Alexa proRes material. The color depth and detail are absolutely incredible. I played around with a DNG in photoshop and in Resolve. Both have full control over color temperature and exposure in post. It's like shooting with a digital still camera in RAW, or grading CG that was rendered to EXR. Absolutely incredible.
can you post a couple of frames?

I think that's one stop over. I'm heading out to a shoot and taking the FS5 RAW kit with me. I'll try to post a bunch of DNG (and ProRes) files throughout the weekend. And I'll try to knock out a few a different ranges of exposure, just for testing.

No worries, guys. And hey, if you're grading…post your grades! I'd love to see what you guys do with the DNGs I post.

I should have some more to post tomorrow. I'm trying to work in some CinemaDNG shots while I'm on a client gig this weekend. It's a bit of a challenge to change from ProRes to DNG on the fly, since it takes 4 minutes for the Odyssey to load the new codec from memory. Once you're in ProRes, it's easy to switch formats, but moving from DNG to ProRes takes a few minutes, which I don't always have on-set. ;)

Stephen - Big thanks for these DNGs. Could you shoot something in 2K RAW, preferably with a lot of fine detail and color changes. I want to see if this would be a viable option.

Thanks!
