Official NextFest Thread

Horror is fun to do, but it's also fairly easy. If it wasn't, you wouldn't see 60 different types of horror movies on the New Releases section at Blockbuster.

I'd rather have a fest that required just as much thought as it did execution. Or at least a different direction or genre to try. In order to really gain knowledge of the force, you must study ALL of its aspects... wait, now I'm going off on a tangent....

Making bad movies is easy, genre doesn't matter. There are just as many crappy comedies and dramas on that wall.
 
I can't belive that no one got excited about MoustacheFest. Shame on all of you. How about CrimeFest, SilentFilmFest or MacGuffinFest.

- Can't put it any plainer. =]

PropFest

- Similar / Same Props in all films.

CopFest

- ..Police?

How about an IssueFest? Whether dramatic or doco style, everyone should address an important and current social issue...
 
How about BabyAnnouncementFest with the requirement that you have to show a sonogram picture? Anyone?

That's a crazy good stipulation. Someone has to be announced Pregnant or something like that.
 
Today I was thinking about a story idea I am preparing to write a script for. I still have some plot holes I have to fill first and so that is what I was working on.

During that process I started wondering how different, if at all, the resulting script would be, if I gave what I know of the story so far, to another writer.

All that to say, what about "PlotFest"/"StoryFest"? Similar to the "One Script..." fest a while back, but the major difference would be writing your own script from a common story/plot rather than all shooting the same script.

What do you think, do you think the resulting scripts would be much different?

Just thought I'd throw it out there.
 
"One Script" fest, a la Project Greenlight, I think would be VERY cool. Some might wince at that, so "One Logline" would be good too.
 
Well, Mines was PITCH FEST... so it's KINDA different.

I just want to enter one. every time I get to the Friday before the Saturday/Sunday shoot... I get canned. All that pre-pro work goes down the drain. Gotta return props for my money back...

I hate throwing my two cents in for what fest is up next and going through all of that trouble just to not be able to enter. Totally kills the spirit.
