OFFICIAL A1 Custom Presets thread

FINALLY I GOT SOME VIDEO UP! Guys, listen, I know vimeo CLAIMS that it has the BEST HD out there but it doesn't. YouTube is the way to go! CHECKEM!

I was testing the following:

-DoF Using ONLY the iris)
-Low Light (well....)
-1/6 ND filter
-Cinema style interview shot (with lighting angles and such)
-Someday's Vision 7 preset.

THEY ALL TURNED OUT BEAUTIFULLY TOGETHER!

The video was filmed at 1080p 30f mode. iMovie is not so great with HD so it was put onto YouTube at 720p but it still looks great!:

Video 2 was the very first test and was solely to review the Vision 7 test. It was filmed at 1080p 24f mode and uploaded to youtube with the same settings(using Premiere Pro CS4):

I <3 Vision 7!

You chould check out www.exposureroom.com I find it has the "best HD" compared to Vimeo and YouTube. I'm sure it's all subjective :)

One thing, YouTube has the overall largest audience. By the way, Since this is a PRESET thread and not a HD comparison thread, may I kindly "request" some features for a "somehow" future "Vision 8?". I really don't know what I'm doing with presets and I was wondering if it could have slightly more vivid colors. It just seems like Vision 7 is a little dull when shooting outdoors, especially with an ND filter on. Also, I think I should try panavision. I haven't got to it yet.

I don't know that I agree with you about the dullness of Vision 7. This video was shot with Vision 7 and at least one ND filter turned on and it looks pretty crisp to me:

Hmm... Well, I actually think it was my shooting conditions on a specific day. I was comparing some footage and it occored to me that it was cloudy on my most recent day

I guess I just looked at the wrong footage. It's just you need full proper sunlight/lighting to pull it off or it will have a dim look to it?

Although I don't have any footage posted, I don't recall having any issues on an overcast day other than than a slight reduction in contrast which may be what you are referring too. That's typical for overcast days with probably most presets.

Collection website?

Collection website?

Is there any web site where most of the (accepted) presets is collected?
Either as full preset info or as downloadable single files?

The best ones are right here in this thread :)

But for other presets type " XH-A1 presets download " in google.

Low light shot - Nightclub! Preset: VISION7 (tweaked)

Low light shot - Nightclub! Preset: VISION7 (tweaked)

This video was shot two nights ago. I was stunned by the good quality and that almost no grain appeared - so I made some quick editing just to show other people the result.

This was shot with a Canon XH A1 with no extra lenses. Downloaded the preset "Vision7", tweaked it a bit and put the gain to -3 db. The shutter was 1/25.

Quick editing (1h) in Premiere CS4.

Using only the raw filmed material directly, meaning:
- No color grading at all!
- No changes in levels, light, contrast or anything!
- No plugins or effects

Straight from the camera...

AMAZING. Haha my dad is supposed to know how to use this equipment but for some dumb reason he always insists to use AGC. Whenever I try to correct him its funny because I always prove him wrong.

I took some wedding video for a friend to show the difference between having AGC On and Off. It really makes a difference people! (Used TrueColor) Sorry! I started to see Vision 7 a little dark and grey. Probably just camera settings or human error but I'll figure it out.

Great footage! Very sharp and dense blacks.

this thread is great! anybody have any presets that can some what if not match the HVX settings that give it a heavy hazey-ish blue look?

Where is the latest listing?

Where is the latest listing?

I have sorted through this forum and others and couldn't find the latest presets in one place. The listing I have is a couple of years old. Please include the "Vision7"

Thanks
