wow that was great in every respect. how did you get neal acree to do the score for you, he's a top professional composer! (and amazing score he did here)

He's a long-time friend and I used to work with him and Joel Goldsmith back in LA many moons ago. He actually got me the job with Joel and they both had a big hand in teaching me about sound/ recording/ composing and Halo, and a reason why I'm doing this stuff now.

This was way out of the norm for Neal, but I think he had fun with it and I Loved it.

He just finished scoring the video game Startcraft II and recorded an orchestra at Skywalker ranch! Congrats on that NEAL! IMDB

3 hours later... 2 hours later... I think that had to be "5 hours later" ?

The story get's a bit boring though.... nothing much happens...

The end is very nice.

Sound is also very good (technicaly).
 
This was exactly what I've grown to expect and love from you. Some new completely new thing.

I thought this was very funny and the actors really riffed very very well.

And the ending is priceless...

I'm not sure what you mean by 5 hours later. 2+3=5? Sound has been my thing for a while, so I'm really critical. Thanks for the compliments.

Oye vey, you're telling me. First, the cows were like...... mooooo. Then the cars would come when I needed the tripod to be in the middle of the road. Then the snow on my camera...
But actually, the owner came up to us and was like, "what are you doing?" and he was watching us like a hawk to make sure we didn't 'hurt his field'.

This is how you make a short film. Great intro with a great score to go with it, really nice stuff. I really liked your film, what a great idea.

This was very funny, and the acting was great. These kind of films really either nail it completely, or die a miserable, slow, painfully unfunny death. This was of course hilarious and awesome. Sound was great, cool effects, aside from a little spill from the green screen, which was hardly noticeable anyway, not a big deal.

Memorable Moment
This was memorable as a whole for me. Loved the line “Why would anybody wanna buy hotwings...” one of the many hilarious lines and deliveries in the film. Loved how the guy came and put the cone on top of the other cone. A quick buzz back to reality for the cones.

Really nothing else I can say other than awesome job. Top five for me, for sure. Congratulations on this Classy piece of work, Soul Soldiers.

Wow! I'm blushing. Thanks for the kind words. That line is my fav too, and with Sammy-cone's response afterwards. "...who doesn't want hot wings in the car?" I have to hand it to Andy and Kevin for those, they came up with the lines on the spot.

This was soooo cool, and totally original. LOVED IT. A LOT of work went into the costumes, and cool ones at that ... then you must have had a lot of fun with the greenscreen work, etc.

Great score, sound design, shooting, etc. Finalist I'm sure, though as I continue to watch the films, I can see it's going to be possibly the toughest fest yet, with no FOR SURE winners, as there are LOT of stand outs in their own respect, this certainly being one of them.

Again, very original work, just like your last one I saw (well, the one I remember, with the unique aspect ratio), and looking forward to more from you!

Laughed really hard! Great casting and execution of the concept without distracting. I had no trouble believing that's what cones do.

Won't ever look at them the same that's for sure.

Great ending.

Also glad we never really saw the human from a close distance. That would have taken me out as I'm sure you realized.

You know a short is quality when you're still quoting it a couple days later. :) I keep waving at my wife in that "sweet cone way."

Last comments: Good job getting an amazing score. Love that shooting this might have been an afterthought to the normal grind, and you just plum nailed it.

Funny Stuff... George Clooney was amazing in this. He makes being a roadside cone look good. I'm such a big fan of his work. One thing that bothered me was left cone... I can't believe someone had the nerve to put a cigarette out on him. That is totally effed. Smokers can be so damned inconsiderate, well people in general I guess. I see this one being nominated for the Oscars. Better than that stupid movie about dolphins getting lured into that bay and killed... I thought they were suppose to be smarter than that. Stupid fish.

Anyway entertaining, at least for a couple of cones. I didn't see who directed this was it the Cones brothers? If that jokes been used already I'm gonna look like a douche bag, I'll take my chances.

Thanks Jared! When I see a road cone I look at it differently now too! And yes, we shot CU's but without seeing the cone it didn't work very well, so I didn't end up using any.

we really liked this one because it was original and very funny! you have a great sense of humor and we're glad you didn't go too serious with the whole betrayal theme.
 
Definitely the most original of the fest! Such a simple concept, but so unique and well done! Loved the performances, loved the score... this is one of the first ones where I called someone else over and said "You gotta see this!"

Great idea, man.

They're good friends, and they hang out all the time.
Our whole crew is really. You should see our shoots, we just all laugh the whole time, then have beers afterwards and laugh about how much we were laughing. My cheek muscles hurt after that.
