New GH1 deal!

Looks like a bunch of new deals. I haven't even heard of some of these lenses. I just wish one of the zooms was fast. A wide-ish to medium range with speed would sure be a nice thing to have.

I've got $1000 in my pocket if Panasonic would make a micro-4/3 version of the Olympus 50-200mm f2.8 like I used to have. Killer lens! (I don't do adapters.) I'd dig even deeper if they'd make it a constant f2 or better! ;)

Samy's has on their website a $200 mail in rebate for the GH1 with the purchase of $100 in Lumix accessories. I've tried to verify the rebate with Panasonic, and they just tell me to check the Panasonic website or with the merchant. I called Samy's, and the guy on the phone had not heard of it, but confirmed it was being offerd on their site. Here is a link to the form:

Using this rebate you could get the GH1 w/kit lens for $989 ($1189-200) and the 20mm Lumix 1.7 for $399 for a total of $1388 wth free Fedex Ground shipping. Also a pretty good deal!

I've never shopped w/Samy's. Can anyone out their verify/vouch for them and this deal?
 
My Gh1 came from my local Samy's great in store service every time I go in. I have had stuff ordered from there site and never had an issue. Even there ebay store has been great to me, I was able to get a few used md lens off of there for less then ten bucks and never once had an issue. As for the deal I will see if my go to guy at Samy's knows anything about it when i go in this weekend.
 
Good to here. Don't know if it makes a difference ordering off their toll free number, but if your guy can take a phone order at the same prices as the website, and he confirms the deal, then pm me his contact info and I'll place the order with him for the GH1 w/kit lens and the 20mm.
 
Not to mention the B&H offer on the gh1+kit lens+25mm 1.4 Leica Summilux for $1939. Wish we had similar offers here in PAL land! We pay almost that much for the body+kit lens only...

I ordered mine from Amazon last night after seeing and debating on the various B&H package deals. Won't be sure what other lenses I'll want (besides maybe a 50mm 1.4) until after I've used the camera for a bit. These were tempting though:

Hmm. You had me thinking I made a typo. B&H has it listed as a "45-45mm" which could be an interesting lens.

I agree with most of your thoughts/lusts. The two that interest me most are the 20mm and the 7-14mm. Didn't see that they were including adapters for the Leica lenses. Am I missing something?

Saw the thread on "Lenses with character" and the Russian Helios lenses and wouldn't mind a Helios 40 (85 f1.5) if I can find one at a thrift shop, not willing to pay $500 for one from Russia (via eBay) though. Even the Helios 44 (58 f2) looks quite nice.

Where'd you see the packages at Amazon? I looked at didn't see any. Did see a neat shift lens adapter though.

I love my 20mm f/1.7 and if I could afford one right now I would get the 7-14mm.
 
no kits on amazon with that useless 45-200 lens.
just the 14-140 and you can get the pancake separately for $385.
 
Ugh. Right after I bought mine from BH!!! I'm looking to get the 20mm f/1.7, and with the 2 lens deal I would've saved about $200!!!!!!

They have a 15-day return policy. If you're within that you can call and explain how you'd rather not have to ship the camera back just to have to buy it again with the 20mm. I'm thinking someone will be able to do the paperwork change to sell you the 20mm for the difference in price.

Yeah, I just requested the RMA, but I think I'll make the call as well. I'd rather not go through the hassle of sending it back, et cetera.
 
Anyone been able to verify the $200 rebate from Samy's? Panasonic website does not list in their rebate section, and no other dealers are promoting it. Very strange...
