NAB "Show *****" Day - You Tell Me What You Want To See And I'll Make It Happen!

Yeah, from the folks I talked to it really came down to engineering vs. return. They pretty much said they "could" make a super-small fluid head, but the engineering to make it small would also likely make it more expensive, as they'd have to re-think some of the bits and pieces. And they just don't seem to think that there's a big market for what you're asking about, from what I could tell.

I'll make the rounds again tomorrow and see if I missed something.

Those are pretty impresive. 1Kw equivalent, 95+ CRI, tight LED spacing ( should be a lot easier to diffuse ), separate control panel for $600.

Yeah these really caught my eye. There's actually other videos on Youtube about these lights right from the show floor where the same guy from Aputure says the 1k LS1 light is just $500, and the smaller LS2 light is just $400.

Very kind of you Stephen. Very kind.
By the way, take a look at the Shotoku SP20 and see what you think.

I haven't seen anything yet, Henry. But I'll keep looking!

Thanks Stephen - with regards to the second request on downsamplers - just discovered that Blackmagic's Video assist downsamples a 4k signal to HD, so well may be sorted.

Just wanted to say big thanks to Stephen on behalf of all of us who are not down at NAB for taking the requests and following through with great information. Its that kind of dedication that keeps me coming back to dvxuser daily! Stephen if you are up this way beverages are on me!

You guys feel free to send more questions to Stephen on our twitter @LandmineMedia

A birdie told me he will attempt to answer those questions in as close to real-time as possible from the NAB floor. So, make him burn some calories

I keep hearing good things about the new Cartoni Smart Pro tripod+head system, that has continous counter-balance from 0-13 lbs. I have yet to play with one in real life. Also they don't sell the head separately.

Cartoni Smart Pro Tripod Kit : $799

Looks nice, but that's a big head. (actually small but in Sachtler and RRS territory). I am looking for something almost half the size for travel and small cameras.

Is Tim Oval / indisystem still in business? He always had cool NAB stuff to show.

I spoke with him some time in the last year or so, I think. He was still trucking along. Don't know if he is at NAB. Maybe, Stephen can hunt him down if so.

... just checked his website, and it doesn't appear to be at that domain anymore. His twitter hasn't been active since July of last year, looks like...

I will see if I still have a good contact for him and shoot him an email, if you like. Just let me know.

Is it a camera cart or is it a slider? Yikes, it's both!

Go to the Matthews Studio Equipment booth and ask for Bill.
He'll show you, what looks like a simple camera equipment cart, but it's also is an amazing slider, with 4', 6', or 8' speed rails.
It can slide at any hight from ground to over 6'.
Be sure to get Bill to give you the demo!

Whoa thats a smart move right there. Probably way out of my price bracket but as budgets force smaller crews pieces of gear with multiple functions is really appealing.

Remember…tweet me @LandmineMedia today to get answers to your most pressing NAB questions. Like "does Ursa Mini have a built in K-Cup brewer?" And "does this EVF make my ass look big?" You know, the important questions. :D

Cheers!

Anything notable coming out of the sessions? they still do those, right? You may be onto something with the brew on board feature. Maybe a whole line of "hot shoe" devices.
