MonsterFest Rules

I am excited to see people branch off and utilize the meaning of monster to the fullest.

Yes, "monster" could mean a lot of things, but I hope we at least get some conventional monsters. It is halloween, after all. We don't need too many "my dad was a childbeating monster" films, let's have some fun here... :)

Ah the interesting DVXUser theme problem, whether to abide by the theme or be "creative" and not make it about the theme (whilst saying that you actually are by 'redefining' the obvious definition).

just wait for the rules :)

Some of us are on the road, and/or recovering from the screening, etc... We'll try to get them up today/tonight sometime for you.

Won't be anything to crazy this time more than likely.

later,
Jason

Easy Shawn ;)

I like when people break the mold and change things up personally... even if they end up kickin' my butt :) props to them.

I'm with you here, Brandon. There's a time and place for specific genre works, and they should always be appreciated. But new molds need to be developed frequently or things will dry up.

My past entries have always catered to the theme quite religiously. If I ever enter another Fest I plan on departing from the theme almost entirely.

Just enough theme to get accepted.

I've gone out of my way in the past to include it but that doesn't seem to matter when it comes to the voting.
Unless they come up with a secondary rating system that includes a 'theme' scale. :)

I like that the theme is usually pretty open though, I have no issues with that.
You learn as you go as to what is accepted and what is not.

Mangina will have more monster than the Bible has God!

And I don't mean that blasphemously...just comparitively.

If I enter this one, I'm gonna have to stay within the confines of my house. Unless any PDXer's want to team up. Then maybe I'll venture forth.

Your lesson is correct. I had to learn the same thing on 48 hour film project. They state even more: theme, character, line of dialogue and prop. I used mine religously, and then lost to a film that BARELY used any of it and the judges didn't care. The only purpose of such restrictions is to try and make sure the films weren't made months ago and resurrected.

Agreed, but dvxuser no likey, lost to one shot in a basement, one in a garage and one shot in an apt. lol

:nads: OUCH!

I guess we should all run out, buy a RED and lease a movie studio because apperantly it's impossible to make a good film in the basement, garage or apartment.

Thanks for the words of encouragement.

Zaza, I like you. You really misinterepreted my post greatly. My post had nothing to do with camera choice or studio (I've never used a studio in my life), my point was limited strictly to location choice. Anyone, from a Red owner to a cell-phone camera operator can choose to get out of their apartment. I was merely pointing out that DVXUser viewers dont seem to care, but I personally agree with JR

EDIT: After re-reading my post, which definitely makes no mention of Red, studios, etc, I have no clue where you got your post
