"Meeting" - Leif Kyrre Larsen

Dude! Nice shots man. You always bring it in a major way so I'm looking forward to this. I promise I'll even get around to reviewing it this time.

BTW: I LOVE your lead actress. Tattoos rock!

No pressure or anything of course. You do some good solid work so I'm sure you'll do very well. Keep us up to date with what's going on with the project.

Small update: I'm finishing up the final cut of the film and we are starting to work on the sound design tomorrow

Well done.

Nice grabs. Look forward to seeing what you've put together.

Grading tonight, tomorrow it's sound recording and mixing. Seems I have to pull a few all-nighters to finish this in time.

A quick update: in the very last minute, I chose to change the main theme completely, as I came up — fully by accident — with a much more beautiful one!

Director Kyrre had a listen to it at 2:20 AM (for which he had to get up from bed, haha) and the feedback was great. And so I move on, now into writing cue 1M2 - "Thinking of Maren" (working title). Will then continue to 1M3 - "Board Meeting / Finale" and back to the trickier (and yet untitled) 1M1.

Wish me luck!

I will release some aural food to you guys soon!

Yeah just wanted to follow on Tim's huh? Kyrre baby what happened? Its cool to be part of the exhibition but was looking forward to your film kicking everyones ass (it wouldnt kick mine, just kinda spank it softly...) you know, like back in the ol' days *Ahem* yes well.

Obviously the mods demanded Kyrre include a nude riot scene at the end of his film, and out of artistic integrity Kyrre refused - and so to punish him they've done this!

This is madness! How dare they??? We must petition and picket. This injustice must not stand.

On a serious note, I was really looking forward to your next project, and you all really came through! It's a subtle, gentle telling of the lengths people go to in order to "claim their place in the world." Being the socio-econ/socio-political nut that I am, I felt as if this was an indictment of the brutality that strict business ethics and stern, exclusive "old boy" types of social networks inflict on people indirectly.

The story is certainly open-ended and ambiguous at times, which I certainly welcome. I feel as if it almost gets a little too close to merely interpretive images, but I think the symbolism of the last four or five shots is enough to build complete thoughts around. Which leads me to the cinematography and blocking of the scenes. Both are very strong and show a tremendous amount of control. This film obvious stems from a director and crew with distinct visions and structures, while at the same time making use of off-the-cuff, reactionary hand-held camera work that allows the film and the main character to breath a bit, very much paralleling the main character's desire to release the constricting ties, both physical and emotional, that bind his own neck.

I'd like to write more, but I'm so beat tonight. I'll definitely stop back to chat about it some more. Really fine work.

Kyrre, you know what I felt about "Acceptance" and its well deserved recognition during LossFest.

"Meeting" is the sort of film that speaks my language. A huge grin crept across my face the second i saw how you tied the main character to this woman he dreams of through their common tattoos. it was brilliant in its execution because you instantly understood that there must be a relationship he is neglecting.

the film is elegant, poetic, real and one of the most authentic pieces i've ever seen in a dvxfest.

Not to pigeonhole you but you seem to be taking on the better attributes of a Moodysson/Hou Hsiao Hsien hybrid. you're a mad genius and I look forward to more of your work.

I really really loved this piece. More so than "Acceptance". Just beautiful storytelling. You perfectly blended very subtle and real performances with fantastic technical execution. It's a shame that it's exhibition only, because you got my highest score (I know I shouldn't announce that, but oh well). Really wonderful. Keep up the good work. You make me want to fly to Norway. :)
