T2i Magic Lantern for 550D in progress!

Damn, your a genius with ESP!!!... Yes, I have a Home Made Loupe on it, and when I removed it, that did the trick. Off and Running once again. Thanks so much, I was beginning to bum out a little.

I am wondering what is the actual state of monitoring on the HDMI output ? Concerning drawing issues of the focus assists etc...
What about the monitoring with the SD A/V output ? I think that the SD output is still useful, not only for the price of SD monitors : most used HDMI monitors are 7", that may be too big, too heavy + batteries. There are 2.5" or 4" SD monitors that are very cheap, loupe viewfinders may even fit on some of these. This sounds interesting to me.

On a more technical side, is it really just an offset on the X axis ? Theorically it sounds like it just needs some offset in GUI drawing functions.
Also, when monitoring on an SD monitor, I noticed that the Magic Zoom just renders an overlay with vertical black and white lines and some details...

Ok, googled + searched wiki/manual but not gonna go through 110 pages here....... 550d crashes randomly when pressing the menu button.... normal?

Ugh... did some shooting tests, plugged in card today... only 1 video with 1 sec... lolwut?

Correct firmware & everything. Had to remove battery after crashing with the menu button too... bah, im not needing any of these features really, and it doesnt seem we'll ever get 1080i feed from a single processor anyway. Oh well.

Latest from the wiki page.

It was up & running fine on the camera, all settings/graphs etc. But yeah something was apparently going on, lol.

March 31? Send me your config file and tell me what to press to reproduce the bugs.

NormanBates said certain card readers have trouble copying files, and may change a bit here or there. Can you send me your autoexec.bin copied from your card (not from the PC)?

Hello,

I am new here and new to DSLRs for video. I own a Canon XL-2 and primarily shoot video. I have the opportunity to get the T2i for $511 with the 18-55mm lens through the loyalty program. The 60D is going for $1039 refurbished with the 18-135mm lens. The 7D body for $1087 through the loyalty program but they are out of stock now. This is my first dive into the DSLR market for video. I am looking for quick advice on which route to take now, T2i or 60D?

Well, look at the step up features of the 60D - do you want them? Articulating screen and manual audio are big ones for me.

From ML point of view I think it doesn't matter, as I'll get a 60D next week and start making a single ML for both cameras.

Hardware differences: 550D has a LCD sensor (which ML uses), 60D has mobile display and better build. I'm not familiar with 60D yet, but as far as I know, most differences between them are relevant to stills. For video, it may be a good option to get the 550D and a few prime lenses.

Hey thanks for the quick reply. Actually I do...When I bought my Xl-2 times were good. Now I am on a tight budget and people are asking for HD. I was thinking of using an external monitor, even with the 60D, on certain shoots. I need to buy some lights, and a few extra items ( shoulder mount ) for the HDSLR...I am putting together a whole package. From my short read on this forum, Magic Lantern gives you major features not native to the T2i...like manual audio?

The T2i at half the cost of the 60d is a killer deal. Of course the new T3i is out with articulating display. The other features like manual levels on the 60d don't matter because WE HAVE MAGIC LANTERN! I love my T2i -- especially with Magic Lantern. It turns your camera into a large sensor pro video camera with zebras, waveform, manual audio levels, and a ton of other great features. Get the T2i -- unless you have a spare $500 laying around, then go for the 60d with the nicer 18-135 lens.

Thanks...the rebel is looking mighty good more and more.

Thanks for the reply. The last line pretty much says it all. Now where did I leave that extra $500? Appreciate all the responses...I'll let you guys know what I get.

I ran across some bugs on the march 31st build. The camera will sometimes lockup when shooting 60p. It happens at the start of recording. It will say busy in the left corner. Also, magic zoom seems to have problems in 60p. It seems to work fine in 24p though.
