Magic Lantern enables 14-bit RAW CinemaDNG on 5D

Guys, can someone please send me a sample of raw video from 5D MK II, and 5D MK III.

This is to test my utility RAW 2 CF RAW which converts raw frames into real-time playable and editable raw video.

Just 3-5sec duration would be fine for test purposes, I suppose.

(Copy.com seems to transfer large files well.)

Thanks

Use Oct 29. It was implemented in Oct 28 but had a bug. Make sure you load the ML_play module as its the one that will playback the preview both for raw and mlv.

Greatly appreciated Ted. One thing, I am assuming that playback happens when I hit the actual playback button on the camera, or is it another shortcut?

2 ways to do this.
1- playback of most recent clip recorded
You will have to navigate in the ML raw video menu. Go to Playback (show the file name of recent clip) select it and hit SET.

2- playback of other clips or when you have removed or replaced CF card.
You will have to use File Manage under DEBUG Tab.
Navigate to the file you want to play Choose VIEW press SET.

To toggle between color and faster/grayscale press SET while the file is playing.

To stop, half press shutter.

man, Im trying to keep up and make sure im in the loop on everything but its really tough to follow if youre not daily checking in. Ive shot 3 full shoots in ML raw but feel like im behind. Please tell me what MLV is and its value compared to regular ML raw. Is there a updated guide of everything yet?

Half shutter! Thank you! I had no idea how to stop! Haha

BTW have you started using the MLV format Ted?

As of now MLV is still not mature enough so I'm still using Raw. This is just my own observation based on the progress on the mkII and 7D platform. It might be different on the mkIII.

nice

edit: now that I've watched this again in my better monitor, I see lots of clips with aliasing and flying pixels, but I think this would be solved by bringing down the sharpen slider and adding some NR instead; it wouldn't be so sharp, but sharper is not always better

There goes the theory that ACR is the only real tool to use. Resolve 10 and it's sharpening algorithm is why that video is so blowingly sharp.

Black Magic is really stepping it up with Resolve. By far the most practical high quality workflow path for cinemaDNG at the moment. Looks like 10 has much better debayer quality than older versions.

Well, that's good news. The only thing stopping me before was the poorer debayer quality.

never really had "poor" debayer quality it just didnt use the MLraw dngs properly. I have had amazing results both with BMC cdng and ACAM DII cdngs.

Hey everyone, I haven't been keeping up with the nightlies for a while. Can anyone tell me if they've made it possible to capture a S35 framing yet? I know early on they made it possible to do 3X zoom but that was klunky when I was trying to use it.

I'd have to agree, I used Resolve 10 on my last few projects and I no longer had any purple fringing in bright, high contrast areas. It looks great and is probably the easiest and best workflow to use.
