Iscorama Anamophic Lens Test

hehe I have 2 isco's in my bad glass cupboard. I'll auction one off in the next couple of weeks to finance a follow focus purchase.......and I won't be pulling a "Klaus". I'm holding onto the other one as an insurance policy as I'll be shooting a lot of my feature with my number one isco and it's not like I can just head down to the store to get another one if some moron drops it or beats me over the head for it. (I hear that's how Lee got his)

I don't really want to comment on how I happened upon my Iscomrama, but let's just say there is an old man in Eastern Europe who is very happy with his new kidney.

I'm sure someone answered this question but what specific types of diopters are you guys using with your ISCOs?

I scored a tiffen 1x cheap. It gives a focal range around 0.5-1m. I've been trying to find a 0.5x diopter but no luck. Maybe Emanuel can get isco/schneider to make some for us.

OZAN: Very cool clip...very clean. I have been happy with every image that has come from my isco. You using a diopter on that? I am also just using the cheap set of +1 +2 +4 on my Isco. You can get crazy close with the +4.

Did you conform that clip to 24p or convert it?

i think i used a +1... cant remember. The lens is smooth but focusing is a biitch. Im going to shoot more test with and i'll post my results soon.

Are there any other screw-on anamorphic adapters that can be used with Canon EF lenses? 58mm will be fine for me... I know Isco is tops in IQ but due to the scarcity, I could settle for something less as long as it has that anamorphic flare goin' on..

That is what I tried to find out here. But it was a waste of time! But I’m planning to buy one and will come back with information on the look.

Just got a cheapo Sankor 2x adaptor with a 52mm thread on the back. Will do some tests for everyone because I can't find much in the way of Kowa/Sankor glass being used with 35mm cameras. I saw some stills taken with a Canon 1D + 100mm + Kowa anamorphic somewhere that looked great. Once the lens arrives I will post a bunch of pics and video. These shot were apparently taken with a Kowa + 100mm at f4 and f16

of course it doesn't compare to this shot taken with an Iscorama XD

Thanks for the post. I think it looks good! But the bokeh looks funny on the first picture? maybe just me? I love the look of the Iscorama, can’t deny that. But I hope to by a Sankor soon as well

Thanks! But why does the bokeh on the first image look like it's stretched vertically?

maybe because it's a 2x adapter and not 1.5x so the oval bokeh is more severe (guessing) also it looks like stopped down to f8 it has less distortion of course

here are 2 more shots, f/8 and f/2.8

If you watch closely in Hollywood films, since a lot are using anamorphic lenses these days, some lenses are actually square fronted and you can see that the farther back you go the more horizontally stretched and square-ish the bokeh becomes. It's an artifact I wish I had the money to have.
