Iscorama Anamophic Lens Test

not sure i would go along with all the deep profound philosophizing on the iscorama.
it is a good quality bit of glass that was made in germany many years ago and might be availlable again in a couple of years for 2000 euros a pop.
it was the best of a bad bunch, why because the iscorama price was the pinnacle of what the market could tolerate. in the 1980s that was 2000-3000 german dms.
is it leica, zeiss quality no,is or was it as good as joe duntons motion picture anamorphics used on countless films in the 70s and 80s and copied by many other companies no.
but then joes optics cost 10 times more...
all we are seeing here is some kind of low level frenzy on a rare item,i am keeping mine because it does flare and look better than all my other anamorphics...
if you want to learn or find out about logistics of making a good anamorphic lens, track down joe dunton.
you will be in good company,he was great help to stanley kubrick for 30 years and has the barry lyndon zeiss 0.75 lens.

OK, I'll help :laugh::

http://www.funadvice.com/q/what_is_the_religion_agnostic_mean

The first couple of answers:

«It means you believe in a higher power but don't follow a specific religion.»

«It means you don't know what to believe.»

Iscorama is a 'jack of all trades', for fun, art, business, still, movie mode, it can be the S8 of today, the S35 of tomorrow when it is the full frame of yesterday and ever.

Does this help? ;-) LOL

(Agnosticism)

The first couple of answers:

«It means you believe in a higher power but don't follow a specific religion.»

This would certainly not qualify as a definition of agnosticism. This is nearer to a description of a deist or even a pantheist.

«It means you don't know what to believe.»

Again, a questionable description of agnosticism, the idea of not knowing what to believe about what ? If you can answer that question, then you have an epistemological problem on your hands, as answering the question reduces it beyond what the definition will handle.

This ("It means you don't know what to believe") is perhaps closer to ignosticim (theological noncognitivism) than it is to agnosticism.

I think I am drifting off topic here ! :crybaby:

so are you saying this lens is a piece of shi* then...
agnosticism is that the same as anamorphic cromotic abomination?

Yes, now go an pray to Iscorama, the god of squashed things.

in the beginning God sir David Brewster created anamorphosis distorting the heavens and the earth.
Now the earth was chromatically formless and empty, darkness was over the, surface of the deep, and the abberated Spirit of Ernst Abbe was hovering over the waters.
And God said, Henri Chrétien Let there be light, and there was light. God saw that the light was good, and He separated the light from the darkness. God called the light iscorama day,and the darkness he called cheap anamorphic adaptor night.

And God said - 'Let there be light' - and there was light. God saw that the light was f/2.8.

LOL Lee, if you prefer, as someone already said, bad glass is that one we leave at home which we never include in our bag when we go to shoot.

hehe I have 2 isco's in my bad glass cupboard. I'll auction one off in the next couple of weeks to finance a follow focus purchase.......and I won't be pulling a "Klaus". I'm holding onto the other one as an insurance policy as I'll be shooting a lot of my feature with my number one isco and it's not like I can just head down to the store to get another one if some moron drops it or beats me over the head for it. (I hear that's how Lee got his)

Isn't RED a cult? seems like a pretty sheepile bunch to me.

No electricity here, I'm riding the bicycle generator......soylent green is people!
