I think the Arri Alexa will be the go to camera for high end work for a good time to come. I don't know where the heck the Red Epic is going to fit in.
Why?

Canon has a history of "stalling" and being late to the game. With DSLRs they were "early". I'll bet they'll be late with an AF100 competitor. I'll bet the 5d replacement will be very interesting....but no competition for the AF100. I'll bet they set a new mark for (no pun intended) DSLRs though. Time will tell.
Any takers? Who wants to put their money on the line and say that Canon will deliver for retail sale, a large-sensor pro video camera in 2010, 2011, or 2012?
Arriflex is a known player and has an established reputation for excellence with a 93 year old track record. They have established relationships with almost every major camera rental house in the world and from all the reports I am seeing, the Alexa rocks.
When Canon puts the 5D sensor into their XL-H1, it will be a Beast.
But now you are seeing FCP mentioned in alot of credits these days. Times change and the Epic just like the RED One I believe will be huge if they ever come out..
When was the last Final Cut update again?
That is what they said about Final Cut Pro. Avid was the king of the block. But now you are seeing FCP mentioned in alot of credits these days. Times change and the Epic just like the RED One I believe will be huge if they ever come out..
