iPhone

Nice device. Apple always has top notch ideas and engineering.

However, my Pocket PC phone does way more, and I've had it for more than 2 years. My screen is 15-20 % bigger than the iPhone. I particularly like the huge list of applications I can load if I want, so it's basically a portable computer. It's not just a phone with gadgets. I already have a ton of apps, and it can get a little out of control. My current favorite is my portable MIDI studio called Pocket Griff. DVXuser and other sites look the same as my PC unlike WAP type phones, I just have to scroll a little bit.

By the way, has anyone really smudged up their screen yet? I think that too much skin contact on screens is bad since the human body is so naturally oily. I can only imagine what some iPhones will look like in a month. Yeccch!
I always liked the stylus approach, especially since I'm a graphics tablet nut.

The screen is definitely going to get nasty. I keep cleaning and cleaning. I feel it's worth it.

I'm a big graphics tablet user as well, but this shows where were heading in the future. The touch sensitivity is AMAZING!

I saw a video of that guy doing the touch screen monitor thing ( I assume it was bought by Microsoft) and the iPhone is a good example of how it will probably work.

I don't know what problem you are having BOOMERANG, with activation, but myself and others take only about 3 minutes through iTunes.

There are phones that do many things more than this, but I've yet to see a phone that does what this does so well.

I suppose I'll get one someday. But hell, I didn't even get a cell phone until four years ago. I held out as long as I could but...

It would be nice to have iPod type storage.

I'm surprised I haven't seen any talk about Apple using this same Iphone interface for new Ipods. Why not use the same technology/cool screen (sans phone) for Ipod? Can you imagine this video interface on an 80 gig Ipod? How cool would that be. That's what I'm hoping/waiting for.

As an interesting side note, for the first time I've ever seen, Best Buy is offiering gift cards (discounts) for Ipods. Is Apple looking to clear inventory for a new product? Don't know, just thought it interesting.

As for the Iphone, I can handle sending my MP3 player in for a week to get a new battery when the time comes, but not my cell phone. Don't think I could handle being out of touch that long. Main draw back for me.

I thought the same thing... all the way around... that iPods may get a revamp before too long... Apple has a promotion where a student can buy a macbook or macbook pro with an academic discount... and buy a Nano, 30g or 80g iPod at the same time... and get $199 back via rebate. Essentially offering a free Nano or a $50 iPod on top of giving the $100-200 educational discount!

I've seen Apple give discounts, but not third party vendors, but then again, who ever knows what Apple is up to?:2vrolijk_08:

The latest iPhone controversy...

Well I can't blame them.

I mean maybe now someone will actually want to go out and buy one of these things.

LOL. Nobody's going to buy this crap. :)

I held MINE up to my wife's Blackjack and it's about the same size.

So far this thing continues to blow me away with it's ease of use.

I can't wait to see this interface in an ipod (as mentioned above) and the touchscreen features on an iTablet.

Heh heh... yeah, you're right. I just think it is interesting to watch all the hysteria surrounding the iPhone... whether its activation issues, kids smashing them or Yao Ming's hand used in the ads... its all kinda funny to me. :cheesy:

btw, don't think your use of italics on the word "now" went unnoticed, you clever rascal. :)

I accidently dropped my old phone right into the toilet on the way to the sink in the bathroom. I should've had the cover down!
So I went out and bought a 4gb iPhone today, and so far I love it!
