IMPORTANT: Server and software upgrade

Perhaps I'm missing it, but I no longer see the way I used to always navigate this site. I would log on and then click New Posts, and it would show me all the threads that had new comments posted since the last time I had logged on. I could then click on a little square next to the thread title and it would take me to the first new post in the thread. This was by far the most useful way to navigate the site for me, especially on thread topics that went on for many posts across many pages. I could quickly see what were the topics that had new comments and if I was interested in the topic I could quickly be taken to where the new comments began.

Is there a way to navigate the new site in this same manner? "Latest Activity" is decidedly not doing this for me.

+1

I had to log in again. Is it automatically logging accounts off now, even if you click on "remember", if one clears cookies off the browser?

++1 on this. Sorry guys but this is not as intuitively navigation friendly as the old layout. :( Pretty please bring back "New Posts".

Hate to pile it on the admins/mods already thankless job, but... I don’t see a way on this new layout to jump to a specific or last page of a thread without actually opening the first/main page of said thread and then choosing a specific page from there.

I have modified my bookmark link to https://www.dvxuser.com and that takes me to a page without the GUI of the forum. When I click on a topic link on that landing page it goes to a non https address with the proper dvxuser GUI. Just a heads up.

I gots the same thing.

And no multiple quotes either.

Yeah its finally responsive on phones!!!! This is huge. The constant pinching and zooming on my phone was very difficult and cumbersome. This is 100000000000x better. On my iPhone however there is a little right side margin bug or how its scaling on smaller screens. Still much better than before but it scales the main content to the device width but it can scroll horizontally with a large area to the right of the content. Pinching to zoom to fit will fix the panning sideways but it adds a large right side margin to the page.

All, as a "creature of habit" myself, it does take awhile to get used to this UI. I have been working on this upgrade for a few months. Frankly, the v4 version this site was running on is EOL as are many of the associated server settings. There is/was no choice but to move forward with v5 of the software on top of a fresh new, up to date server. I will look into the requests such as New Posts, but from preliminary digging, that was replaced with the New Topics feature. I will continue to refine, but my hands may be tied on some v4 features that never made it to v5.

I clicked on this thread and it immediately took me to the "last unread", which was Thomas's post. This wasn't here this morning.

I have not been able to reach the site since your upgrade last Friday. dvxuser.com doesn't even connect from my computer. I'm logging in from my friend's computer.
All other sites work fine. I cleared the Firefox browser cache and also cleared my DNS cache from the command line. Nothing works. I've been a forum member since 2004...now I can't even connect to the site, much less the forum. I have tried with Firefox, IE and Opera...no luck.
Please advise!
Thanks,
Ken

Thanks for your efforts Brent. IDK if you're taking suggestions but it'd be great to be able to collapse categories again. For example, I never look at Panasonic - Video Cameras so it's a lot of scrolling.

Will you bring back the "helpful" voting system?

When you say "clicked on this thread" just exactly what did you do in order to have it take you to the last unread post?

Just realized if you are NOT signed in you have the ability to see all the new posts. Trouble is you cannot respond to any unless you are logged in!

So, now I'm logging out so I can click on "Today's Posts" and then logging back in to post a reply. I dunno if I'm doing something wrong, but that's the biggest issue I'm currently facing, as others have mentioned

Sorry another backward step just like EDIUS changed their site. I like being able to click one button and get all posts since the last time I logged in and also mark all as read then when I leave. The old site was great for this with the buttons at the top and easy to see. Now I have no idea how to get the same action.

New Topics replaced New Posts in this version of vBulletin. It shows threads that have been updated and not read since last update. You have to be logged in.

Today's Post shows all threads updated in last 24 hours, where read or not. This is for guests (not registered).

Not defending their rationale, just explaining it.
