Hpx300 rumors

Are there 2 or 4 xlr audio inputs?

Being a 10 bit camera has the audio been able to improve (not that it was ever bad) from 16 bit 48k to a higher bit rate or sample rate?

I wonder if Panasonic will give a free 32GB card if you go with the HPX300. That way, it will definitely make it worth the buy than the $8k JVC HM700.

Three. Two on the back, one in the front.

It's capable of recording four channels, which can be accomplished by using the wireless receiver.

No, it's still 16-bit 48KHz.

48-kHz/16 bit, 4-Channel Digital Audio
The AG-HPX301 can record full 48-kHz/16 bit digital audio on all four
channels. You can freely select the audio source for each channel

? Not in the same league. The HM700 is a mini-sized unit using (presumably) 960x540 chips and recording to 8-bit MPEG-2. The HPX300 is full-sized using 1920x1080 chips recording to 10-bit AVC-Intra. Totally different.

As far as I understand there are no plans for bundling P2 cards in with the camera at this time.

I made a big long post and lost it :(

In short

Design looks great.
Layout looks great.
EVF looks great on spec - jealous.
Barry says sharper than a 500 - should be with the 1920x1080 chips.
AVCIntra - WOW this is by far the best codec running around IMO. So easy to work with like DVCProHD.
Incorporating CAC function - a first in the 1/3" chip camera world.

4 channel audio capable.
1/3" mos - still 1/3" - dont expect greater DOF control than you already have on any other 1/3" chip camera.
DRS - have been following this on the other cams that have it and on low setting it seems to be really adding to image without any nasties
Real balanced shoulder mount cam - not like the half assed hybrids (XLH1 and EX3), makes a bug difference.

Remember folks this is a HPX300 and not a 500, 500 will still blow this away as far as overall image (dont give me bs pixel count numbers etc - not relevant to my thought process).

The only thing I cant figure is why Panasonic would still only use 1/3" chips.

Oh and the lens itself will have the same zoom functions seen on pro 2/3" lenses, great for ENG and events.

Wish the 500 could be upgraded to AVC Intra.
