How'd you find DVXuser?

Was a big Creative Cow guy prior to discovering this site in 2005. I probably found DVX user through a Google search. The 3 Way Shootout article was pretty huge. ("dvx vs xl2 vs sony")

I was an ex xl1 owner, which I dumped for a DVX. Was actually searching for the best option to output in 16:9, I fell through the door and Hudson kicked me in the guts... true story.

The usual way...wandering in the forest...clouds part and golden shafts of light spearing down from the sky...rolling basso profundo voice from the heavens...clickest thy mouse, for thou art rolling over a holy link...

I was looking for dvx100 footage. It was my first forum ever. I remember being very reluctant about joining. I though I would get a ton of spam and such.

I stumbled in from 2-Pop when searching for info on the DVX100. Quickly realizing this place was in need of "more cowbell", I decided to stay.

Ya know, in the old days, Jarred would actually jump in the mix on a cafe thread.

I don't remember how I ended up here but might have been with camera search. I was researching the XL2 at the time. Ended up with the DVX100b. Want the HVX.

I was considering camera and equipment for one of our shorts.

A friend of mine recommended the DVX100 as a proven camera.

And while I was googling on the DVX, I found out that there's an HD successor coming out - the HVX.

Later I found the DVXUSer forum and it was\is immensely helpful.

We happily shot the short on the HVX.

Then I clicked in the sub-forum of this alien artifact - "RED Digital Camera". (reduser was still part of DVXUser then).

I must admit that when I first visited red.com my reaction was like "WTF is this thing?!" :)

My attitude changed when I saw "Crossing The Line", the milkgirls stills and the other footage samples.

Now I'm actively and joyfully lookylou-ing these fine forums.

I don't really remember. I remember registering so I could watch the Zombiefest films. I remember having only heard a little about the DVX from a review I read, then watching the zombiefest shorts and being so impressed by how the films looked, and deciding fromthat point on that I NEEDED one. About 11 months later, I finally got one, from another user here, in fact. But that's a different story. Maybe I was researching the XL2 or something, because before I heard of the DVX, that was the camera I wanted badly.

I was kinda bored and out of the loop on the current crop of cameras at the time, so I was just searching around for 24p cameras and think I stumbled on to this site from that. Lurked around for a few months, and the site ended up with me going from being bored, to formulating a business plan for a new business and figuring out how i was going to finance 25 grand in gear :) So, I joined up after reading around a few months and posted a typical noob question about the gear I was looking at getting at the time.

Later,
Jason
