How'd you find DVXuser?

Como's back. back again
Just curious as to how you guys found this site?

When I was researching for buying a camera, I was googling all different types (Yes, I DID do some sort of search! :))

I found this site, and didn't really think anything of it. Sorry :(

So days pass, blah blah blah and I want to come to this site again for some reason. I couldn't find it, and I forgot what it was called. I finally found it, bookmarked it,
now I'm a member.

Share your experience!

I found it while researching the HVX. I wish I had known about it for the three years when I owned the DVX100A!

Como found this site with a Search? You are kidding me. I don't belive you. :) :)

I don't recall how I ended up in this place myself. Probably followed some link from somewhere, or maybe I was reading up on Steadicam discussion or something. I don't know.

I can remember how strange & weird this place looked the first time though - it was all dark and strange layout ... that was compared to the forums that I frequented at the time - and don't really that much anymore. :)
This place almost scared me off for some reason, but then something clicked (I believe it was a snare snapping shut) and I got sucked in.

Perhaps I can blame Pookie.

I was looking for new porn sites and accidently mistyped the word S E X

I was at dvinfo and saw a post by Jarred and it had the site in his sig

The rest is history.

Well, back in 2002 (approximately) I found an article in an newspaper (after a hellish search I found it! http://film.guardian.co.uk/features/featurepages/0,,786541,00.html "Mac, Camera Action")

Back then I was naive very naive, this was the exact line that started my long journey:

Mac said:
it's better than celluloid. When Soderbergh came to transfer everything to film, he added artificial grain to give a less perfect look.

Now back then I had NO idea about Film vs Digital, I just thought wow, consumer "digital" cameras are good enough to make films? hmm, I started to reseacrh about cameras,

Then the bombshell:

Digital camareas aka MiniDV, was no were near the quality of Film,

The the endless persuit of "DV to Filmlike":

Long story short, DVX100 came up, looking for Clips made me end up here, and well I haven't left since.

The Wise old Man:

All the HD vs SD, 35mm adaptor vs Res charts etc, etc, I've ended up doing 3d, damn, and I only came in looking to make films on inexpenive consumer cameras.

PS:
I know my join date says 2005, but thats because I have two accounts by accident, Anhar V1 and Anhar V2 :)

okay i searched and found my first posts from 2003 and 2004 -- apparently i came here to research the DVX100, because I was DPing a feature called Blue in Green. shortly thereafter, i was really only pimping that movie. didn't start posting regularly until 2005.

I remember the first time I found DVXuser. It was originally because back when I was in highschool, we had a couple DVXs and I thought it was one of the cooler cameras we had. I started some research, found out about 24p from another site and started using it for the projects in class.

Then I decided that I HAD to have a HVX because when I searched, I found that the HVX had come out because there was a new review from this site called DVXuser. I looked around and saw great examples of footage from the DVX, was vacationing on Miami Beach one March and picked it up at Videoscope after checking out some authorized dealers.

Kind of spontaneous, but I knew the camera I wanted and I've been hooked ever since.

Researching the HVX. It doesn't take long to realize the depths of this forum though.

My buddy Joe linked me to this place. After giving DVXuser a quick look over I yelled "why didn't you show me this place sooner?!?!"

I believe I searched "DVX100b vs. XL2" back in the day when that was the huge debate.

I think thats the same way i found this place, after seeing the images the DVX produced i was sold on it and bought it!

But i was a lurker for about 8 months before i joined.

Was linked to this by someone on a paintball forum. He made a decent video as a muzzle flash test, which at the time I thought was brilliant.

I came here from either DV.com or DVinfo.net. I used to frequent those forums, but I've found a home here.

i was researcing cameras some 3 years ago, came across the famous "dvx vs xl2 vs sony" article and loved it!

My friend was really getting interested in filmmaking. I was already into writing, but more of the story type rather than screenplays. He suggested I look into the site as it might help us start to make films. I did, and that was that, here I am. Now I love script writing and filmmaking, thanks DVXuser!
