HMC150 questions answered...

I was told by someone who works closely with Panasonic that FCP will support AVCHD natively with its next release.

It was stated by Apple representatives who appears at the LAFCPUG Supermeet in Amsterdam during IBC.

I can't confirm it, but I'll try from the source.

I am assuming by "next release" it means FCP 7 =[

Not trying to upgrade cause I'll have to re-buy the version instead of upgrading. Damn the academic version =[

Reardless.... really antsy on when my hmc150 will come in. I see BH has it in stock but they haven't sent me an email of my shipment yet.

Oh by the way first post!! =] looking fowards to participating in the community

Wow, bizarre. You got a 150 before anyone else has even seen a 170, and the 150's "official launch date" isn't for another week. Weird!

Well I pre-ordered through my rep at Full Compass and I paid a 10% downpayment on August 2nd to get in as early as possible. Guess it worked! Got a great price too.

@ Shrigg

Uh Uh Uh cant wait to see your footy.

edit:

If it's not to much trouble can you list what was in the BOX and what extras ( batteries ) you purchased ?

Thanks

hehehe add another one to the list!!!
I also like the what's in the box thingy.......

Hope you are enjoying the camera!!!

I went with Transcend Class 6 16 Gb cards. The Z7U users I talked to found Transend to be the top CF cards for reliability, I figured based on that Transcend would be a good choice.

It would be really interesting to see how they work and hold up against real life.

eeeh what's that ?
How did you get " Boring senior member" ilauzurika ?

Anyways will just have to wait and see if this 40 dollar card is reliable.

Same here!!!! I can't wait! Do you need class 6 sd cards? I thought I read somewhere that class 4 would work for all modes including 60p
Class 4 does work for all modes. The only bonus that Class 6 will give you is that it'll copy to your computer faster.

I thought the 150 used the little consumer batteries? How come those look like regular full size dvx style batteries?

The 5800mah batteries are the same basic size as the DVX 5400mah batteries. The 150 ships with a little cube-shaped battery but it can take bigger ones. Just not the same as the DVX/HVX/HPX170 because they added the infoLithium feature.

Oh yeah, guess I never even photgraphed the stock battery, lol

Just got back from shooting a round of tests. I will be uploading very soon.

I havent yet heard of anyone else getting one.... Could it be that I have the first HMC150 in captivity? :Drogar-Love(DBG):

Sure looks like it !
How did it go?

It went pretty well. I really didn't have a lot of time but I tried to shoot a variety of subjects at all the frame rates.

Now uploading. It's gonna take while though... Transmit is telling me "about 7 hours remaining" for the 1.44Gb .zip file.

I am looking at the footage on my HD Sony CRT and it looks pretty good! Each framerate really has a different feel, quite surprising differences!
