General Grading Cinestyle in Final Cut Pro X?

As there is no curve tool in Final Cut Pro X, and no plugins like LUT Buddy: Do people have good recipes for grading footage shot with Technicolor's Cinestyle in this program?

Having the same problem...fcp x doesn't have a curve tool and not being able to load in your own LUT or use DSLRlog2Video is a problem.

I guess it is " Jawdropping" Any state of the art program that has no control over a gamma curve is truely jawdropping to say the least.

Apple didn't drop the ball. They did what they wanted to which was make it into a consumer editing program... then if you want more they know you'll buy Final Cut Studio. Don't expect much from X. They suck for it. Ha.

I'm really psyched to get my hands on FCPX. I think it will work with my non-collaboration workflow very well. That being said it has been stated the Apple completely pulled Final Cut Studio from sale and is buying copies from retailers. There has even been some posts that updates are no longer available. I am on vacation right now with my up to date MBP but my Mac Pro is not up to date and this rumor worries me.

Oh my apologies. I didn't realize they pulled Final Cut Studio completely.

I heard rumors a while back but I though Final Cut X was going to be the Express version and not replace Final Cut Studio. That's unbelievable!! Just when I was starting to like Final Cut they do this. In case you all don't know Avid's latest media composer is in its worst upgrade in Avid history. I've been working on Avid for 10 years and I can tell you it's a fact that many many veterans of Avid are really pissed. They screwed that software up too. What's going on here. I guess I'll just stick to my older version. Hey it serves its purpose.

I just spent a couple hours using Final Cut "Pro" X attempting to correct a couple of clips shot with 5D Mark II with the Technicolor Cinestyle Picture Style and I can tell you absolutely that it is flat out impossible without a tone curve tool or the ability to use the Technicolor LUT. I finally ran the last clip through Color and was then able to apply an S curve and then took it back into FCP X and it is now corrected. The colors were perfect as I used a Color Meter and plugged those numbers into the camera but the tonality requires that tone curve. I just Emailed Apple and suggested that they really should have included a tone curve tool and that they add one in the near future in the next update. I wasted $300 on a software that is useless for my purposes. Has anyone figured out a way to use the LUT in FCP X?

pomfort DSLRLog2Video (beta) for fcpx

pomfort DSLRLog2Video (beta) for fcpx

pomfort has just released a free, beta, plugin that works for both fcp 7 and fcpx.

I got the link in an email from pomfort. seems to be only available for those who registered with pomfort (I downloaded a previous version) as I can't find any reference to a fcpx version on this page.

Have just installed it into fcpx and looks good, though haven't had time to look closely yet.

5DtoRGB - Will include the Technicolor LUT in next version!

I Emailed Rarevision, the folks who came up with 5DtoRGB, asking that they include the Technicolor Cinestyle LUT as a gamma flagging option in the next version of 5DtoRGB. I got a reply from Thomas Worth and he said he's already working on it. Thomas said he has it working on the PC side and just needs to port it over to the Mac. That is very good news. I can hardly wait!
